STATUS: Intern DEPARTMENT: Development BRANCH: Organization Advancement Job Description: The Development Officer (DO) is responsible for assistance to the research, preparation, and administration of applications to grant-making agencies as well as local and national private foundations. The DO is responsible for the ongoing relationships with these funding sources. The DO is responsible for acquiring and maintaining sponsors annually. The DO is responsible for generating and maintaining corporate donations and funding. The DO works closely with directors, management, and the organizations board of directors to manage project proposals. The DO helps create quarterly reports on personal progress of donors and amount contributed for the Director of Developments review. The DO: Corporate Supports primary responsibility is to build relationships with corporations to generate financial support for We Care Academys programs and organization advancement. Attending events, researching grants, contacting personnel are all major parts of the job. Program Description: The Emerging Artists (Teens) program is geared towards promoting opportunities for youth development within the arts field. It is our firm belief that the arts are essential to youth development. The program places teens in environments conducive to learning about the arts as an industry. The teens will meet and interact with a variety of art related professionals from management, educators, events planning, to curatorial occupations. The teens will have the opportunity to showcase their creative talents during an art show designed and managed by the teens. Our mission is to ensure that the teens involved in the program have the skills and knowledge necessary to make educated career decisions, gather real life experience hosting a showcase, and develop their artistic talent.

Who We are: Planned Parenthood of Northeast and Mid-Penn (PPNMP) serves 19 counties in Pennsylvania, home to over 25% of Pennsylvania residents. We have administrative offices in the Lehigh Valley, Harrisburg, and Reading, operate 9 medical centers that serve over 34,000 patients annually, and offer comprehensive sexuality education that reach thousands of teens and young adults. Our Mission: Our mission is to provide and promote high quality, comprehensive reproductive health care through medical services, education and advocacy. How You Will Create Change: Interns will spend ten weeks working in a variety of community affairs avenues: Public policy, Advocacy, and Legislative Affairs: interns will help to monitor legislative activity that affects Planned Parenthood, including reading and researching legislation, planning for and attending meetings with state legislators and other government officials, and assisting with the creation of a legislative database. Community Outreach: interns will help plan and recruit for a range of advocacy activities, including phone banks, patient engagement, campus groups, and the Capital Area Partnership Council. Communications and Media: interns will assist in maintaining databases of media materials and contacts; and aid in monitoring and analyzing various media outlets for coverage relating to Planned Parenthood issues. The intern will also aid with minor administrative work. Whats In It For You: Community Affairs Interns will have the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of community engagement, with the possibility to focus on an area of interest. This internship can be used as a base for future graduate school or work in legislative affairs, advocacy, public policy, law, communications or media. In addition to being a substantive internship opportunity, the Community Affairs Internship is also available for academic credit. Chapter Leader - REACT to FILM College Action Network

Do you like documentary film? Interested in social change? Fascinated by the film industry? Looking to inspire your peers and make a difference? The REACT to FILM College Action Network aims to expose, engage, and inspire young people around critical social issues. Launched in the fall of 2011, the College Action Network started out at about 10 colleges. Due to the overwhelmingly positive response, we currently have 27 chapters across the country, and are looking to expand to up to 50 chapters by the fall of 2012. College Action Network Chapter Leaders will be responsible for planning screening events featuring REACT to FILMs social issue based documentaries. In the 2011-2012 academic year, we screened Hell and Back Again, Miss Representation, The Last Mountain, Sing Your Song, The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom, and Living for 32. Each event aims to draw a large crowd, and uses an important social issue based documentary as the means for getting students to be more engaged in the issues facing themselves and others worldwide. Screenings are followed by a guest speaker (often film director or producer) or a panel discussion. REACT to FILM frequently uses Livestream technology to connect multiple colleges in the network for interactive video Q&As.
