INTERN POSITION TITLE: Intern, Asia/Eurasia Partnerships DEPARTMENT: Global Programs LOCATION: Stamford, CT ASSIGNMENT LENGTH AND HOURS: This is a summer internship opportunity that runs from June to August 2013. POSITION SUMMARY The Asia/Eurasia Partnerships division is one of four regional teams within the Global Programs department of AmeriCares. We support health care and social service programs in such countries as Afghanistan, Armenia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Kosovo, the Philippines, Romania, and Uzbekistan. Our programs combine gift-in-kind aid donations with financial grants and training opportunities in order to build local capacity to address some of the most pressing health care issues, including: disaster management, maternal and neonatal survival, child nutrition, infectious disease outbreaks, and prevention and control of chronic conditions such as cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes. The AmeriCares internship in Asia/Eurasia Partnerships provides an exciting opportunity for a student interested in humanitarian aid operations in the region. Our three-person team manages a diverse and challenging portfolio that offers a very substantive work experience for an intern. The position is structured such that the intern is engaged in daily workflow by taking on assignments of immediate importance while also managing longer-term projects that will help strengthen our efficiency and effectiveness. In addition, throughout the duration of the internship, the intern will participate in an institution-wide group project along with other summer interns.

POSITION SUMMARY The Web Team in the Communications Department serves a global constituency of donors, recipients, partners (donor & program) and a growing community of people who are interested in the mission of AmeriCares. The team maintains/builds/enhances all of the online channels of communication including multiple web sites, applications and a growing presence in social media (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and YouTube). The team also creates/develops/publishes content for each channel. Our social media presence has expanded the responsibilities of the web team to build engagement with a growing online community. Reporting to the Web Marketing Manager, the social media intern will be directly involved in the daily creation and publication of content for Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and our blog platform. Writing skills and some social media experience are a basic requirement. In addition, the intern will develop periodic reports of social media data to evaluate campaign effectiveness and develop strategies. Research on new tools and applications that could expand our social networking presence will also be an ongoing project.

POSITION SUMMARY The Latin American Partnerships team is one of 4 regional teams within the Global Partnerships department of AmeriCares. Each of the teams serves the regions in which they work by coordinating with in-country partners to facilitate projects, programs, grants, and shipments for a broad range of beneficiary institutions. In Latin America and the Caribbean we work with 12 partners in 9 countries to deliver lifesaving medicines and medical supplies to national hospitals, nonprofit clinics, rural health outposts, and networks of physicians going on medical brigades throughout the region. The Latin American Partnerships internship provides an exciting opportunity for undergraduates interested in humanitarian aid operations in the region. Our four person team manages the largest regional portfolio within Global Partnerships; the significant workload this entails consistently offers a substantive work experience for our interns.
