A secondary role this person will play will be to assist the Public Relations & Social Media departments in an auxiliary / support role. This role will allow a candidate with experience in marketing and public relations to apply it to an existing operating company in Hospitality, Entertainment, and Nightlife industries. ABOUT TSA The Smithsonian Associates (TSA) advances the Smithsonian Institutions mission to increase and diffuse knowledge through life-enriching educational and cultural experiences inspired by the Smithsonians research and collections for DC-region students, families, and adults, and for learning communities nationwide. ABOUT DISCOVERY THEATER The Smithsonians Discovery Theater is dedicated to offering the best in live performance for young people that celebrate the rich diversity of our region and our world. Each season we tap into the vast resources of the Smithsonian Institution to present relevant, culturally accurate entertaining programs. We offer dozens of interactive productions that feature puppets, storytellers, dancers, actors, musicians, and even mimes! SEASONS Spring (Jan May), Summer (Jun Jul), and Fall (Sep Dec) TIME COMMITMENT 30 40 hrs/week; 1 full semester 1 academic year. Part-time availability will also be considered. The Social Media Intern is responsible for assisting Swank Properties in managing its social media pages and for developing additional pages on some of the newest platforms. The goal of this position will be to increase the organizations online presence, reach a larger audience, gather information and increase awareness. Additionally, the interns responsibilities would include research of social network marketing trends, report of these findings and implementation of relevant strategies.
