We have an urgent need for several project management interns to work at our Troy, MI location. Support project managers on projects comprised of process analysis, redesign, implementation, introduction of quality methods, cost-optimization, supplier evaluations, project management and planning, and manufacturing optimization. Our Project Managers analyze given situations, define solutions and implement them. They support our clients methodically, conduct and moderate workshops and actively drive changes. Our experts work with a high level of self-responsibility and are in direct contact with our clients in engineering, manufacturing and management. They do not perform typical engineering tasks but deal with the organizational challenges in a technical and corporate environment. Projects are typically related to various electrical/electronic automotive systems/subsystems (primarily infotainment, telematics, navigation, ECU, OBD, etc.). You will interface with various automotive OEM and Tier 1 suppliers and will work with test engineers/managers and project/product engineers. Work scenarios: (1) be able to work full time for the balance of the summer and at least 20 hours/week in the fall (2) full or part time starting in the fall or winter (3) full or part time for 2013. Calphalon, a division of Newell Rubbermaid located in Atlanta, GA and is a leading manufacturer and distributor of kitchen housewares. The position of industrial designer co-op is responsible to work in a cross-functional team environment assisting the Manager, R&D - Design, from concept to finished product. Develop and design concepts for new products and product lines. Project may be independent from the Manager, R&D - Design and focused on short-term deliverables. Work with freehand sketches as well as CAD models in both 2D and 3D, using programs such as Adobe Illustrator, Solidworks, or Pro-E. Prototype design concepts to demonstrate their appearance and evaluate functionality. Reports to the Sr, Industrial Designer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assisting the NPD team on the research element of product development
· Work closely with the product development teams under the direction of the Sr. Industrial Designer in the development process.
· Refine designs in Solidworks or Pro-E platforms.
· Create concept renderings in Keyshot.
· Prototyping / modeling of design concepts. Assist in prototype development (Z-Corp, Eden, painting, etc.)
· Support the design team in general where necessary.
Qualifications This position requires one to be enrolled in an Industrial Design, at the respective University. Must have two years of course work completed towards an Industrial Design degree. Must be familiar with Microsoft Software, Including Adobe Illustrator. Ideally have some experience on Alias or Pro-E Knowledge of the housewares industry a plus. Strong interest in culinary arts also preferred.
