The company owns and operates extensive network assets including 37,000 fiber strand miles, a Juniper and Cisco-powered MPLS IP network, four datacenters and nearly 400 colocations in 273 wire centers throughout the Southwestern and Western United States. We are looking for an intern to work with our Network Engineering team. The intern will have the following learning objectives: i) Learn how Smart Voice business functions, what are the critical processes that make the business successful Be able to answer the following questions about the Smart Voice Engineering function: (a) What role does Capacity Monitoring plays in overall success of the business? (b) How does documentation supports to effectively maintain the business (c) How does the Element Management impacts the uptime and quality of the service ii) Learn how Capacity Monitoring contributes to overall Capacity Planning function: Be able to answer the following questions about the Capacity Planning function: (a) What components and services are monitored? (b) What knowledge, tools and skills are required to do an effective Capacity Planning? (c) How does the historical data helps with the trending, projection and forecast of the business iii) Learn how the Quality Assurance process functions, how to execute test plans and document the results iv) Meet with professionals in the Smart Voice Engineering group and identify strengths and weaknesses of a career in this field. v) Learn first-hand about the Telecommunication Service Provider business.
