The Hester Street Fair, an outdoor specialty food and goods market in the Lower East Side, is looking for individuals in search of a unique internship focused on event production and marketing. Started in May 2010, The Hester Street Fair is home to a weekly rotation of 60 unique vendors with an emphasis on local, artisanal, and handmade or collected. Our philosophy is to create a dynamic space where art, commerce, local food, and community intersect and thrive. Interns will be able to learn about all aspects of the company: marketing, event production, operations, publicity, and new business development. This is a 3-month, unpaid internship starting immediately, requiring a commitment of 10-20 hours/week and a flexible schedule, as workdays will often coincide with our events. The mission of Reiman Gardens Internship Program is to promote the professional and intellectual development of students through a multi-disciplinary educational approach and hands-on work experience. The internship program is scheduled to begin on May 13, 2013 and is finalized on August 9, 2013. Each intern is required to work in their specialized area four and a half days a week with one half day a week reserved for educational workshops, demonstrations, and field trips for a total of 40 hours per week, including some weekend and evening hours. All interns are required to complete various internship components through the guidance of their supervisor and develop a talk on their internship experience. Presentations will be given in a public session at a Brown Bag Lecture. In addition, the interns will work as a team to complete a project to help the Gardens. Application materials are due Friday, February 15, 2013. Interviews will be conducted in February and March with final decisions made by March 22, 2013.

The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is offering two three-month internships in Event Planning from approximately early May to late August 2013. This internship will be approximately 16 hours a week, including one weekday in the office and one Saturday each week. This internship is unpaid. Internship objectives: provide students with an enriching professional growth experience in event planning; encourage problem solving skills during the planning of a variety of events; and give students practical career experience in event planning. Prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. May build add-on modules using application program language. Active participant in research and development activities leading to the development, demonstration, and documentation of new capabilities, and/ or advancing the state of existing technologies.
