emPower magazine, an online news site that focuses on social issues (health, education, environmental, political and economical) facing people of African descent in American and globally, is seeking a Marketing Internship to help increase the magazine's brand through social networking and local media, and foster relationships. This is a telecommuting/virtual internship, which will require between 6-12 hours per week, including weekly Skype conference calls and monthly in-person meetings. All candidates must be in the Washington DC Metro Area. We are looking for Spring, Summer and Fall interns who can commit to at least six months. Although this internship is for college credit, the intern who get this position and is successful at getting sponsors for emPower events and content will receive 15% commission of the sponsorships dollars received.

To design an online radio-station magazine with topics in radio news, sports, weather, and music events. To be developed into hard cover magazine in two years.

Scene Magazine is based at Raleigh Studios Baton Rouge, and has a very close relationship with the film industry. Interns are given an opportunity to participate in the creation of content published in print and on the web. Interns will work directly with the magazine's editor-in-chief. Need a editor for our issues that will cover every aspect of the magazine for spelling, word content, editing issues and layout. Will be done every 3 months per issue. Starting June 2013 we will be going monthly.

Mwari Magazine offers three amd four month unpaid internships in: editorial, fashion, beauty, photo/video, public relations, marketing, design and advertising. Interns are required to work at least 15hrs/week. Although the bulk of the work is administrative, interns gain valuable career experience in return for their efforts and are invited to sit in on editorial meetings and attend events with the Mwari team. A passion for magazines is essential. All interns should be detail oriented and organized, with strong written and verbal communication skills, have good phone presence, and the ability to juggle multiple demands and meet deadlines. Editorial candidates must exude the following strengths and qualities: strong research skills, resourcefulness and persistence are essential. Interns handle mail, faxes and couriers, help process invoices, update Twitter and Facebook, update blogs, fact check copy and assist with research and proofreading. They may have the opportunity to write small pieces for the magazine if they show interest and ability. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is a must. Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite, HTML, Final Cut Pro/iMovie, and social media a plus. Interested candidates must submit their resume, cover letter, two writing samples and references.
