Background: San Miguel High School is a private, Catholic high school that opened in 2004 in order to create a learning community where students from families of limited financial means have the opportunity to develop to their full potential. San Miguel is located in the economically depressed south side of Tucson, Arizona where 50% of adult residents do not have a high school education and 42% of San Miguels neighbors earn less than $25,000 per year. At San Miguel, students take a full college preparatory course load while simultaneously holding internships, working in corporations and earning nearly sixty percent of their school tuition. SMHS exists to educate children of the working poor regardless of religious affiliation. San Miguel High School is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We are part of the nationally recognized Cristo Rey Network of Schools with 25 in the country and 25 more scheduled to open within the next ten years. Mission: San Miguel High School, a Catholic, LaSallian learning community empowering youth from underserved families, nurtures a Christian spirit and integrates rigorous academics with practical experience, thereby transforming students to be prepared for college and career. Duties: The SMHS Advancement office is seeking an intern interested in gaining valuable non-profit public relations marketing and development experience. Duties may include, but are not limited to, assistance with marketing/PR campaigns, updating website, preparation of annual report articles and promoting San Miguel within the Tucson community. The ideal candidate will be a college student with excellent writing and communication skills. Some graphic design or marketing experience/classes a plus, though not required. He/she must be committed to the mission and efforts of SMHS and abide by the code of conduct/dress code while on campus.

After the books have been written, edited, designed and published, the last important step is getting the right people talking about the books. Learn what it takes to target online and offline opinion leaders to generate conversation and interest in our titles. As a Familius PR intern, youll have the chance to be the lead public relations manager on three Familius titles, working primarily with the authors and the press. Our goal as a company is to help families be happy. We are looking for interns that are positive, outgoing, wildly creative, and that have a sincere to desire to help families. DETAILS: Compensation: $350 stipend Hours: 10 per week, but those hours may be scheduled around school and other activities (we've tried to make it simple). Location: Flexible.
