REPORTS TO: Market Foundation Event Coordinator CLOSING DATE: Open until filled BACKGROUND The Market Foundation works to preserve the traditions and diversity of the Pike Place Market neighborhood by raising funds to support services located in the Pike Place Market historical district that benefit downtown Seattles low-income and senior residents. These include the Pike Market Medical Clinic, Senior Center, Child Care & Preschool and the Downtown Food Bank. The Foundation hosts events to raise funds and awareness for these efforts. POSITION SUMMARY The Market Foundations summer intern assists with the planning and production of one of our largest events of the year, Sunset Supper at the Market, to be held on August 16, 2013. Sunset Supper features food & beverages served by over 70 top Seattle restaurants, wineries, breweries and beverage companies. The event takes place on historic Pike Place overlooking Elliott Bay and attracts more than 1,000 guests. Entertainment includes live music and dancing, raffles and a great party atmosphere. This unpaid internship offers a unique opportunity for an individual with interests in event planning, non-profit fundraising, donor databases, and project management to gain hands-on experience of a large, complex charitable event.

While providing salon and spa services is the primary focus of Jungle Red, involvement and support of the local community is an integral part of the Jungle Red mission. Products and services are of highest quality and skill, and are geared toward a healthy or holistic approach to beauty and personal care. The environment and culture of the salon is artistic and creative, down-to-earth and friendly, open and comfortable. The mission of Jungle Red is twofold: to offer artistically inspired personal care services in an environment where relationships between clients, team members, and the community are seen as foundational to a trusting, judgment free atmosphere; and to give back and support local community through various fundraising and art events hosted in the salon as well as sponsorship outside of the salon. We are consistently hosting and sponsoring events in our community and in our salon, including fundraisers, art shows, fashions shows, photo shoots, and neighborhood/community events. Our last fashion show was "Poolside" by Vita.MN at Calhoun Beach Club where we will provided all the hair and makeup. Our last fundraiser was our 10th Annual "Treasure for Teens" where we raised money for Avenues for Homeless Youth.
