Project Vote Smart, a national non-profit and non-partisan political research and voter education organization, is currently accepting applications for its Summer 2013 and Fall 2013 internship programs located in Austin, Texas. The organization, founded by a politically diverse group of leaders including former presidents Carter and Ford, provides information to the public regarding all aspects of political candidates and elected government officials. By making this information freely available, Project Vote Smart aims to better prepare citizens to defend themselves from the political hype and misrepresentations that are characteristic of modern-day political campaigns. Interns in our Austin office, located at the University of Texas at Austins Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Life, will work primarily on our legislative research program, covering legislation and key votes from all fifty states and Congress. Daily tasks may include tracking local media sources and reports, compiling legislative voting records, summarizing and translating significant pieces of legislation into language the average voter can understand, and other duties as needed. All interns perform substantive and meaningful work, and will never be asked to answer phones or make coffee. Interns gain familiarity reading and interpreting actual legislation, and acquire valuable experience for those considering law school or working in any policy-related field. Through their daily work, interns in our legislative research department are exposed to the important issues facing their state and the country, as well as the solutions being proposed by policymakers. We are more than happy to work with students' university departments in order to help them receive academic credit for their internship experience when possible. We provide a legislative research experience; however, we do not provide room and board for our interns.

AppSnatcher is an exciting MIT-based startup at the intersection of mobile applications and large data analysis. The founding team includes graduates and students of Harvard, MIT and Tufts with prior startup successes. The team is addressing some of the most interesting and pressing problems facing mobile app users and developers today. Stage: Two of our products are in beta testing and have received superb reviews from beta users. Beta launch will be expanded to late winter for iPhone & iPad users and for mobile app publishers. INTERNSHIP PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE This internship position reports to the Director of Special Events and Manager of Special Events. The Special Events Assistant assists in the design and implementation of special events in support of PSO operations. The main focus for this position will include the Annual Gala and Soiree on Friday, September 27th. Other events may include Parties of Note, Fiddlesticks birthday party, Donor Benefit Events, and Young Professionals Events. This internship also coordinates with the Individual, Corporate and Government teams to make sure that fundraising events complement their efforts.

International Rivers is a non-profit research and advocacy organization headquartered in Berkeley, California, with staff and consultants currently working in Brazil, China, India, South Africa and Thailand. International Rivers supports communities around the world in protecting their rivers and rights. We work to halt destructive dams and encourage better methods of meeting needs for water, energy and protection from floods. International Rivers' Policy Program works to strengthen the social and environmental policies of dam builders and financiers, and to build the capacity of civil society and dam-affected communities to defend their rights. We are seeking a part-time (16-20 hours/week) intern for 3 months during Spring and Summer 2013 (with possibility of extension) to assist with the creation of a major report on the current state of the world's rivers. The report will include an in-depth research component on indicators of river basin health, and will analyze our experiences and lessons with specific dam projects, developers, and cross-cutting issues over the past decade. The Policy Program Intern will play a critical role in the project team by supporting the research, production, and outreach components of this report.
