As a court form transcriber you will learn how to transcribe court forms under the supervision of a licensed attorney as well as have the opportunity to learn various types of law such as Family Law (divorce, paternity, custody/visitation), Consumer Finance (collection, contracts), Bankruptcy, Health Benefits (medi-cal, Medicare, private health insurance, state and local health), State Benefits (social security, SSI, unemployment, Cal Works), Education (student financial aid, special education), Employment (wage claims, taxes, employee rights) and Housing (private landlord tenant, federally subsidized housing, mortgage foreclosure).

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) is a nonprofit organization working toward effective medical practice, research, and health promotion. For the last 26 years, PCRM has led the way for reforms of federal nutrition policies, and our clinical research programs are breaking new ground in diabetes, cancer, and other serious medical conditions. We have fought for an emphasis on prevention, higher ethical standards in research, and scientific advances in basic research and effective drug development. We have worked with physicians, federal regulators, politicians, researchers, educators, students, and concerned citizens. And we have so much more work to do. PCRMs Toxicology and Regulatory Testing team finds and implements science and policy-based solutions to reduce and replace the use of animals in tests conducted by pesticide, chemical, drug, and cosmetic companies. The Toxicology and Regulatory Testing Intern will work with our Director of Regulatory Testing Issues on researching and preparing educational materials (web and print), assisting with grassroots, media and educational aspects of our campaign to encourage cosmetic companies to stop testing on animals, assisting with the teams lobbying activities, including tracking Capitol Hill visits and preparing materials, and assisting with the preparation of reports for the public or for peer-reviewed publication on topics related to animal testing. This internship is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the policy issues associated with efforts to promote alternatives to the use of animals for product and chemical testing while making a valuable contribution to PCRMs campaigns.

WETA Public Television and Classical 90.9 FM provides internship opportunities designed to help expand students' knowledge and experience in public media and compliment their studies. Interns in the Communications department provide support on a variety of assignments that may include marketing, writing, event preparation, and data compilation. Interns will also support major promotional events that may entail working with several internal departments on event management, publicity, and promotion. They may also have the opportunity to assist at Classical WETA promotional events, conduct preliminary research for upcoming films by Ken Burns, assist with the expansion of WETAs photo archive, and/or assist with the distribution of information to press. The San Francisco Conservation Corps (SFCC) is a non-profit job readiness and education program serving young adults between the approximate ages of 18 and 26 who work in crews to address community needs through service and conservation-related work. SFCC work readiness opportunities for young adults include, but are not limited to, landscaping, restoration, installing play structures at public schools and community centers, recycling, and internships. Concurrently and in partnership with the John Muir Charter School, the young adults focus on attaining their High School Diploma or participate in the Corps-to-Career higher education program.
