Overview - Sales Intern The position is generally a part-time position, working 10 to 20 hours a week. Status of the position would be temporary to permanent. Duties Back-up to stockroom 2-3 hours per day Help in mapping out entire University- all lab related building opportunities, by wing and floor identified Understand stockroom locations, products stocked and processes used to procure Distribute literature and products to the designated labs and discuss the potential benefits to the customers. Follow-up on orders and quotes. The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is a 757-bed teaching hospital in Baltimore, Md., that provides a full range of health services to people throughout Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region. It is a national and regional referral center for trauma, cancer care, cardiac care, neurocare, womens and childrens health, and organ transplants. The medical center is the flagship hospital of the University of Maryland Medical System, a private, not-for-profit network of 12 academic, community and specialty hospitals throughout Maryland. UMMC recognizes that disseminating information about its medical programs and services in innovative ways is key to serving its various audiences from patients and visitors to employees. To that end, UMMC has established the Communications & Public Affairs Internship Program to offer hands-on learning opportunities for college students interested in media relations/PR, editorial (communications and writing), graphic design, web development, and video and multimedia production (including animation). The UMMC Internship Program provides highly qualified college students (preferably juniors) the opportunity to participate in a dynamic communications department. Interns can apply for one of four areas of focus and may be eligible to receive course credit (subject to the requirements of the students academic institution). Each nonpaid internship is for a duration of one semester with 10-20 hours of work required per week at the UMMC offices in Baltimore. Extensions may be available to high-performing interns.

The California Wildlife Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of injured, orphaned and sick native wildlife. CWC fulfills this mission through marine mammal rescue, and treatment of avian and terrestrial wildlife in our rehabilitation hospital. This internship will provide an exciting and challenging educational experience in the marine mammal field, while also allowing for additional hands-on experience with other native California wildlife. The interns will be working closely with the Marine Mammal program staff in all aspects of stranding response, including logistics, assessment, capture/restraint, transport to the marine mammal rehabilitation facility, and public relations. In addition, interns will provide support to CWC Hospital staff in animal husbandry tasks for avian and terrestrial wildlife.

Description of the Program/Site The Center for Urban Community Services (CUCS) is a pioneer in creating comprehensive, effective housing and service programs for homeless and low-income people, primarily single adults, particularly those suffering from serious mental illness, HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, and other disabling conditions. Since its inception at Columbia University in 1979, CUCS has also worked to improve public policy affecting the homeless and dispossessed. Thousands of formerly homeless people have found independence and rebuilt their lives with the help of CUCS' programs and services. The Center for Urban Community Services invites applications for a Summer Internship position at the CUCS Transitional Living Community (TLC). The TLC is a nationally recognized model for helping mentally ill homeless people acquire housing. The program services include: transitional housing for 43 women, comprehensive case management, group treatment, on-site psychiatric and medical services and housing placement.

The Uptown Sites provide case management services to formerly homeless individuals with a diagnosis of an Axis I Mental Illness in West Harlem and Washington Heights. Single Stop is designed to reduce poverty by providing individuals and families with assistance obtaining entitlement benefits, earned income tax credit screening, access to free tax preparation services, legal help and advice, credit counseling, crisis assistance, and general information and referral services. The summer volunteer will be an active participant on the core social services team at the Uptown Sites/Single Stop.

POSITION SUMMARY The Corporate Relations team is responsible for stewarding the relationships that AmeriCares maintains with pharmaceutical companies and medical supply manufacturers in order to solicit gift-in-kind medical donations and funding in support of our international and domestic on-going medical assistance programs and emergency response work. The position will support the Corporate Relations team in a multitude of ways, focused both on internal and externally-targeted coordination and process management. Assistance with preparation for donor meetings, conferences and our annual audit will form a core of the responsibilities, along with projects focused on helping to broaden specific donor relationships.

In Latin America and the Caribbean we work with 12 partners in 9 countries to deliver lifesaving medicines and medical supplies to national hospitals, nonprofit clinics, rural health outposts, and networks of physicians going on medical brigades throughout the region. The Latin American Partnerships internship provides an exciting opportunity for undergraduates interested in humanitarian aid operations in the region.
