Supports FMS Director of Communications in the production and execution of communications. As assigned, researches, writes, edits and proofreads original copy and content developed by others to meet the differing messaging needs of patients, employees and public audiences.


DUTIES / ACTIVITIES:

CUSTOMER SERVICE:


· Responsible for driving the FMS culture though values and customer service standards.


· Accountable for outstanding customer service to all external and internal customers.


· Develops and maintains effective relationships through effective and timely communication.


· Takes initiative and action to respond, resolve and follow up regarding customer service issues with all customers in a timely manner.


PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES


· Researches, writes and proofreads copy for newsletters, marketing material, public relations and other multi-channel communications.
· Contributes to projects within the department that require writing expertise as assigned.
· Conducts research on assigned topics, interviewing subject matter experts as needed to assist with drafting and finalizing content for internal approval prior to distribution.
· Writes clear, accurate, and engaging original copy appropriate to target audiences.
· Ensures proper usage of brand, voice, and style, as well as organization, grammar, syntax and sentence structure, and punctuation.
· Proofreads content, paying strict attention to detail, and edits as appropriate.
· Demonstrates a sense of corporate responsibility and commitment.
· Remains open to change and new information, and able to incorporate into multi-channel content development with messaging aimed at the patient, employee and public audiences, including online content.

EDUCATION


Candidate for Bachelors degree in related area (English, Journalism, Communications).
Available to work 40-hour work week on-site.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS
Promotional writing, editing, proofreading and production experience, and knowledge of writing conventions required. Experience in a health care environment preferred.
Demonstrated successful experience in writing for patients/consumers, employees and the public required.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to present concepts and share ideas with others required.
Ability to work as a team member to partner with other departments and varying levels of staff and management required.
Ability to work quickly and efficiently to meet deadlines in a computerized environment required.
Excellent organizational, problem solving and business acumen skills required.
Ability to take guidance and direction and translate it into action required.

Animal Programs - Veterinary Medical Records Internship

Company Overview:
Since its opening in 1971, the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, FL has grown to feature four theme parks the Magic Kingdom ® Park, Epcot ®, Disneys Hollywood Studios ®, and Disneys Animal Kingdom ® Theme Park. In addition, more than 20 themed resort hotels, two water parks, and the Downtown Disney® Area, a daytime and nighttime entertainment complex, are part of the Walt Disney World Resort.

Department Overview:
This Disney Professional Internship provides experience working in a busy veterinary hospital records area. The intern will be working with the Medical Records Team to maintain animal records, ensure data integrity and work with the Animal Care Teams. Interns will use skills and technology to collect, monitor and maintain medical data for the Veterinary Services Team.



Responsibilities

  • File paper documents (lab work, clinical notes, treatment sheets, etc.) in the appropriate animals records.
  • Create medical records for new animals.
  • Archive inactive records.
  • Enter data into various spreadsheets.
  • Track lab results, consulting with outside labs when appropriate.
  • Distribute communication regarding avian gender determination lab results.
  • Travel to the Tri-Circle D Ranch® on a weekly basis to file and maintain records at that location.
  • Share information about medical records with guests during a weekly "on-stage" guest interaction session.
  • Work on various projects, as requested, for the Animal Care Staff.


Basic Qualifications You must meet the basic qualification in order to apply for the internship:

  • Minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0
  • Junior, senior or recent college graduate
  • Health Information Management, Veterinary Technician, Pre-Veterinary, Zoology or related major field of study
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately handle detailed information
  • Public speaking experience
  • Written communication skills
  • Minimum of six months of records and/or data management experience

Internship Eligibility:
  • Must be enrolled in a U. S. college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Not have already completed two consecutive (spring/fall) College or Professional Internship Programs
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must provide full work availability
  • Must provide own transportation to/from work
  • Current Active Disney cast members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines (for Walt Disney World cast members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; for Disneyland cast members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months)


Program Length:
The approximate dates of this internship are June 2013 through January 2014. Interns must be fully available for the duration of the internship.

Housing:
A limited amount of company-sponsored housing is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
