Merrifield Records mission of developing a community for artists to thrive both as individuals and in a collaborative environment may be altruistic, but label founder Mike Hindert (of the Bravery) and his team (which includes Brian Karscig of Louis XIV) provide the structure necessary to make it a reality. Since the labels inception in 2009, it has grown from a house for Mikes second band the Danvilles into a post-record label organization that is not only home to one of the most innovative artist rosters around, but also composed on the business end of the very musicians who make up these bands. In just two short years, Hindert and team have developed an artist's co-op that challenges the role a record label should play in an artist's career. By bringing down the walls between artist and label, Merrifield Records has created the model for what could very well be the next step in the evolution of D.I.Y in the music world.

2013 VIDEO PRODUCTION INTERNSHIP Heartland has a Video Production internship available for Spring (January-May), Summer (May-August), and Fall (August-November) terms. Approximately 15-20 hours per week is expected. Flexible scheduling available. A $250 stipend per semester will be offered.

Music Booking Salesperson-Intern We are seeking music-loving interns to be part-time salespeople. If you've always thought you would be a good salesperson, and if you love music, then this is your chance! This internship is designed to teach you how to be a full-commission salesperson, selling music booking-promotion campaigns to indie musicians and bands in the U.S. This helps get them booked at venues that they could not normally book themselves. Technically you would be an inside salesperson, and you would get paid sales-commission from your very first sale! Our top salesperson made over $80,000 in annual commissions recently, doing just part-time selling of a similar product, so you have a great goal to shoot for as a new salesperson! We start you out slowly, however, so that you can learn step-by-step. :) Your job starts out by just emailing artists and bands (using leads and sources we provide), to see if they have interest in getting pricing on our campaigns. This is the first few weeks. Then, you follow up with pricing emails, and around week 3 or 4 you start receiving packages and making phone calls. If you are good, you can make your first sale in the first month! Pay is full-commission, 20 percent of every sale you make. There is no base pay or hoursly pay, just the commission (the highest-paying sales jobs are always full-commission). Sale prices start at $2500 and go up, so commission starts at $500 and goes up. There is no limit to how much you can make; the more you work, and the more sales you make, the larger your paycheck is (shouldn't everything work that way?) And it's the most flexible workday in the world: You can come and go whenever you want, as long as you get your hours in for the week (Saturday is available too). Here are the requirements for the hours: 1st Month: At least 10 hours/wk. 2nd Month: At least 20 hours/wk. 3rd Month and onwards: At least 30 hours/wk. Our previous interns have been hired by Universal, MTV, Warner Music Group, Inside Edition, the Country radio station in LA, music stores, indie labels, the Whiskey, a film marketing company, etc etc. So even if you are making money here, it's still possible to find an additional position somewhere that fits exactly what you are looking to do. Full training is provided, so don't think that you have to figure things out on your own. School credit is available too if needed. If school credit is not needed, then resume' credit and references are given instead. The main requirement is fast typing, and a love for indie music! There is no driving, meetings, or events required. You must work from our Santa Monica office, which is open Mon-Sat from 9am to 7pm (choose your own times).
