Paddling Guides and Instructors - part time Part-time guides are often apprenticing or interning while growing their outdoor leadership and sea kayaking skills. Staff may also be part-time if working with Lost Creek while holding down another job or taking college classes. Part time guides run day trips and assist full-time staff on longer trips. You must be available to work all day during the weekends, and are welcome to work during the week when work is available. Qualifications expected are the same as for Full-time staff though lower levels of paddling ability are to be expected at first. Position dates: June through Labor day with some shoulder season work possible. Apprentices and Interns can expect very light work loads until the end of June when the season starts to get busy. The Animal Care Intern will help with all aspects of daily animal upkeep. This includes but is not limited to: diet preparation, cleaning enclosures, weighing patients, bottle-feeding orphaned babies, administering medications and vaccinations, and animal intakes. These tasks can be labor intensive so you must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. The position is unpaid and no housing is offered. Full-time and co-op/intern position (may become regular full time at the end of the internship) A engineering research company in Northern Virginia is looking for a hands-on senior/ graduate student from Mechanical, Electrical or related Engineering major for an exciting mechanotronic project of national interests. Required Skills: Advanced skill level in hands-on mechanical and electrical engineering. Excellent hands-on skills in instrumentation and electrical assembly are required to perform this task. Knowledge of instrumentation and electronics for sensors, transducers, actuators will be extremely important. Basic skills in mechanical and electrical design required to prepare and interpret drawings. Experience/ basic knowledge in engineering FEA software tools such as COMSOL, Ansys, FEMLAB, LabVIEW. The candidate should be willing and able to learn one or more of these software tools. Preferred: Knowledge of nondestructive tests, semiconductor manufacturing process, composites, and acoustics. Duration for internship: 3-12 months starting Spring 2013 Semester. Compensation: Competitive salary and stipend (for interns), training, and other benefits. The Office Administrator will be responsible for managing the logistics of all workshop implementation. He or she will track event details from the planning phase through implementation, coordinate consultant travel, ensure all materials are printed and delivered appropriately, and complete expense reports after workshops are completed. He or she will also be responsible for managing office files (physical and electronic), opening mail, responding to emails, answering phones, and maintaining office supplies. Competent workers will be given more responsibilities depending on their ability to execute tasks effectively and efficiently. This is an exciting time in the business as we transition more into e-learning and explore social-mobile technology. This is a fast-paced environment and candidates must be able to multi-task and prioritize a variety of responsibilities. The event takes place on historic Pike Place overlooking Elliott Bay and attracts more than 1,000 guests. Entertainment includes live music and dancing, raffles and a great party atmosphere. This unpaid internship offers a unique opportunity for an individual with interests in event planning, non-profit fundraising, donor databases, and project management to gain hands-on experience of a large, complex charitable event.

Gator Country is a 15 acre alligator and reptile sanctuary that sees over 30,000 visitors per year, where conservation and education come together, serving to protect some of the most amazing animals in the world. Gator Country has used public media to push alligator conservation including starring in its own TV show Gator 911, and appearing in other hit shows like River Monsters and Billy the Exterminator.
