The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum offers several three-month internships in Public Horticulture from approximately early May to late August. Our Internship objectives are to provide students with an enriching professional growth experience in public horticulture; encourage creative problem solving skills in public garden management issues; and give students practical career experience in public garden management. About the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum As a premier pubic garden and cultural destination, and international horticultural research center, the Arboretum is a community resource that contributes to the horticultural, economic, and intellectual lives of Minnesotans and people all over the world. Founded more than 50 years ago, in 1958, the Arboretum is a part of the Department of Horticultural Science, in the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences at the University of Minnesota. DDF offers several internship opportunities for students passionate about protecting civil liberties, especially the right to dissent. Interns will generally work out of our national office, which is located in Takoma Park, Maryland just outside Washington, DC or remotely from anywhere in the U.S. Interns at the national office will have the opportunity to attend educational forums, symposia and meetings hosted by our allies, think tanks and local universities. National office interns will also participate in meetings with coalition partners, Congressional staff and staff from different federal agencies and the White House. All DDF interns will engage in substantive work including research, writing, lobbying and coalition-building. Specific projects interns will work on include the Campaign to Protect Animnal Rights Activism; Rapid Response Solidarity Network; Civil Liberties Wikipedia; Dissent & Repression Comic Series; Defending Dissent Radio; Direct and Grassroots Lobbying. Summer Internship Program: This is an 8-week internship in our national office. Students are expected to work 30 hours per week and are paid a modest stipend. Remote Internships: This flexible internship offers students the opportunity to work on DDF projects from anywhere in the U.S. Fall or Spring Semester Internship Program: Full or part-time interns are accepted at our national office or can work remotely.

Massachusetts Peace Action is seeking students, recent graduates, or young activists who can commit 8-12 hours per week from February to May. The internship is unpaid but a stipend of $300 will be paid on completion. Start and end dates are flexible but the student should be able to work at least 10 weeks during the spring. Our office is located in Harvard Square, Cambridge. Massachusetts Peace Action is a statewide membership organization working to develop the sustained political power to foster a more just and peaceful U.S. foreign policy. Through grassroots organizing, policy advocacy, and community education, our priority issues for 2013 are: promote reductions in the military budget to fund programs that address jobs, the environment and human needs; end the war in Afghanistan and prevent one with Iran; and abolish nuclear weapons. The Legislative Intern will focus on organizing support for a Budget for All resolution in the Massachusetts State House, on tracking the items on Mass. Peace Actions legislative agenda, and mobilizing support and opposition in Congress for the bills we support and oppose.

Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library is the former estate of H.F. du Pont with 60 acres of naturalistic garden set within a 1000 acres of woods, meadows & streams amid the rolling hills of Delaware's Brandywine Valley. Appealing to a wide audience of tourists, culture seekers, and avid horticulturists, the Winterthur Garden is a historic and rare example of a "wild garden". The Groundskeeping Intern will learn proper turfgrass management techniques through hands-on experience in the day to day management of the turf within the Winterthur Garden and Estate. They will gain experience in handling a range of mowers and turf situations. They will also assist with the maintenance of the historic naturalistic design of the garden by learning and practicing good safetyand excellent horticultural techniques e.g. fertilizing, planting, pruning, leaf removal, mowing, spraying pesticides, mulching, weedeating and learn the cultural requireents and botanical nomenclature of the plants along with the design principles used in the Winterthur Garden.

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) is a nonprofit organization working toward effective medical practice, research, and health promotion. For the last 26 years, PCRM has led the way for reforms of federal nutrition policies, and our clinical research programs are breaking new ground in diabetes, cancer, and other serious medical conditions. We have fought for an emphasis on prevention, higher ethical standards in research, and scientific advances in basic research and effective drug development. We have worked with physicians, federal regulators, politicians, researchers, educators, students, and concerned citizens. And we have so much more work to do. PCRMs Toxicology and Regulatory Testing team finds and implements science and policy-based solutions to reduce and replace the use of animals in tests conducted by pesticide, chemical, drug, and cosmetic companies. The Toxicology and Regulatory Testing Intern will work with our Director of Regulatory Testing Issues on researching and preparing educational materials (web and print), assisting with grassroots, media and educational aspects of our campaign to encourage cosmetic companies to stop testing on animals, assisting with the teams lobbying activities, including tracking Capitol Hill visits and preparing materials, and assisting with the preparation of reports for the public or for peer-reviewed publication on topics related to animal testing. This internship is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the policy issues associated with efforts to promote alternatives to the use of animals for product and chemical testing while making a valuable contribution to PCRMs campaigns.

The Hanover Township Senior Center was dedicated on April 2, 2005. It is a visible symbol of the support that this community has for its elders. A Senior Tax Referendum, "Support Our Seniors," was passed in November 2002 thanks to our seniors whose dedication and hard work incited its passage. This Referendum allowed for the construction and maintenance of a new Senior Center. Opperman Architects, Inc. and contractor, Lamp, Inc. worked along with our Supervisor, Clerk, Board of Trustees and staff to achieve a dream that benefits all adults, age 55 and over, who live in Hanover Township. The Senior Services Department offers a wide variety of advantages to the seniors who live in our Township. We offer transportation, recreational programs and trips, social services as well as many opportunities for volunteerism.
