Behind the Book is a literacy nonprofit with the mission to excite youth about reading and promote a reading culture in inner-city public schools in NYC. We bring published authors and illustrators into classrooms to lead a series of curriculum-based workshops and guide students through the completion of a unique final project. For every author visit, students are provided with an individual copy of the authors book and are required to produce a written or illustrated project. Behind the Book interns are essential in supporting a growing organization, and gain valuable skills and experience in project management and nonprofit work. The Social Media/ Marketing Intern will work closely with the Director of Development to manage all aspects of the organization's Marketing and PR, including all social media. This is an unpaid position based in our Harlem office. Candidates can receive academic credit. Commitment is for one semester, 2-3 days per week, hours are flexible.
