INTERN POSITION TITLE: Intern, U.S. Program DEPARTMENT: Global partnerships LOCATION: Stamford, CT ASSIGNMENT LENGTH AND HOURS: This is a summer internship opportunity and runs from June - August. This position requires a minimum commitment of 4 days/ week (9:00am 5:00pm) and consistent attendance to ensure that projects are seen to completion. ABOUT AMERICARES AmeriCares is a nonprofit global health and disaster relief organization that delivers medicines, medical supplies and aid to people in need around the world and across the United States. Since it was established in 1982, AmeriCares has distributed more than $10 billion in humanitarian aid to 164 countries. POSITION SUMMARY The Global Medical Assistance Program reaches a broad range of institutional beneficiaries through a network of in-country partners. These institutions, located in the United States and 38 countries around the world, include more than 2,000 general and specialty hospitals, outpatient clinics, community health programs, hospice residences, rehabilitation centers and homes for children and the elderly. In the U.S., AmeriCares supports more than 400 free clinics, community health centers, federally qualified health centers, health departments and social service organizations that serve the poor and uninsured. Last year, AmeriCares delivered more than $22 million in aid to its U.S. partners. The U.S. Program Intern will provide support to the U.S. team in the areas of partner management, data management, research and reporting. Specific assignments are noted below.

Development Intern

Located in Alexandria, Virginia, Mental Health America seeks an energetic development intern to assist with special projects and day-to-day operations. Ideal candidates will have an interest in non-profits and fundraising. The internship will entail building donor relations, assisting with gift entry, mailings, and conducting internet research as needed. Special projects include development of online fundraising activities and foundation and major gift research. Mental Health America is always accepting applications from prospective interns throughout the year (Fall, Spring, and Summer Semesters). No relocation or housing costs will be provided. If you live away from Alexandria, VA, but want to intern or volunteer, you should take a look at the local Mental Health America affiliate - many of them have strong internship programs with great opportunities.
