The Schermerhorn is a supportive housing project, run by CUCS, The Actor's Fund and Common Ground. The intern will be a volunteer for CUCS. The Center for Urban Community Services (CUCS) is a pioneer in creating comprehensive, effective housing and service programs for homeless and low-income people, primarily single adults, particularly those suffering from serious mental illness, HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, and other disabling conditions. Since its inception at Columbia University in 1979, CUCS has also worked to improve public policy affecting the homeless and dispossessed. Thousands of formerly homeless people have found independence and rebuilt their lives with the help of CUCS' programs and services. The Center for Urban Community Services invites applications for 1 summer internship position at The Schermerhorn. The Schermerhorn, located in Boerum Hill Brooklyn, is a 216 unit supportive housing residence for low income tenants, many of whom have histories of mental illness, homelessness, substance abuse, trauma and /or HIV/AIDS. The summer intern will be an active participant on the core social services team at the Schermerhorn, with a focus on resource development to strengthen relationships with outside community providers. The intern will receive a monthly unlimited metro card for the duration of their internship, to accommodate travel to and from work as well as in the surrounding community to explore local resources.

The communications department also ensures organization-wide consistency of brand and message. The Communications Intern will support the department in all aspects of its strategic function. The intern will get a first-hand look at how a large international aid organization promotes and maintains its public identity. The core of the position will involve maintaining department-wide organization and records, as well as assisting with messaging through writing and design assignments. POSITION SUMMARY The Web Team in the Communications Department serves a global constituency of donors, recipients, partners (donor & program) and a growing community of people who are at various levels of engagement with the mission of AmeriCares. The team maintains/builds/enhances all of the online channels of communication including multiple web sites, applications and a growing presence in social media (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and YouTube). The team also creates/develops/publishes content for each channel. The Communications Department produces an increasing amount of dynamic content for all the online channels, and the web team handles the production and publication of the content (text and digital) to our web platforms. The Web Publication intern would learn the basics of publishing to our content management platforms, and then help in ongoing publication, testing and updating of the site on a daily basis. Solid web skills including use of Google, Adobe and Microsoft tools would be required with HTML knowledge very helpful. Reporting to the Web Designer, the intern would also have the opportunity to expand development experience in the building of a micro-site.

POSITION SUMMARY The Post Emergency Programs team overseas the bulk of AmeriCares global long term recovery efforts and works closely with AmeriCares 5 field offices around the world. Our long term recovery activities currently focus on Haiti, Japan and Sri Lanka. Our departments team of four interface with each of the field offices to provide key linkages with HQ, support administrative needs and help develop programming strategy as well as partner and project vetting and approval. One of the challenges we face given the high volume of activity in each of our offices, is consolidating the results of all of our activities. Therefore, we have structured an internship within the department which would focus on one long term assignment to help us capture the data being generated by our programs.
