Audience Research & Evaluation Internship- Summer 2013

Internship Title: Audience Research & Evaluation Internship Internship Department: Audience Research and Evaluation Department Objective: The Audience Research and Evaluation team is looking for an intern(s) who is interested in how a large cultural institution like Shedd Aquarium identifies and studies its audience and how it produces world-renowned exhibits and programs. Responsibilities: Interns assist in conducting evaluations and research related to guests, exhibits and programs at Shedd Aquarium. This process, in large part, includes gathering guest feedback though surveys and questionnaires, understanding guest choices by observation/tracking and gaining in-depth information by interviewing guests. Interns may serve in the following roles: A. Data analyst: The intern will be involved in database management, preparation of data for analysis and analyzing data using both quantitative and qualitative methods, as well as assisting with data collection, data entry, and writing and presenting results. B. Field evaluator: The intern will be involved in preparing and managing materials for data collection, collecting data (exit surveys, exhibit surveys, observations, etc.), entering data, and maintaining records and reports. Final Product(s): Social science field experience; completion of data analysis; writing evaluation report(s) of various exhibits and programs, as they relate to the Shedd Aquariums audience. Qualifications: The Audience Research and Evaluation team needs a motivated, self-starter with excellent communication skills who can work in teams and independently. A friendly, optimistic attitude and energetic personality is a must. Candidate needs to have good attention to detail; able to work within tight timelines and in a busy environment. Experience with quantitative and qualitative data analysis a plus. Must be comfortable approaching guests for interviews and questionnaires; able to stand and move quickly through the public areas of the building, including stairs, for several hours. Computer proficiency including intermediate knowledge of Microsoft office (Excel and Word); experience with SPSS preferred. Experience conducting literature searches and writing literature reviews and/or annotated bibliographies

SALES LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT INTERN

In this role you will be involved in the development of e-learning material, administration of Sales Learning and Development tools and processes, and helping to coordinate training programs. This is a year-round assignment. Candidate must be available to work at least 20 hours per week during the school year, and up to 40 hours per week may be available, during summer and winter break. Responsibilities Include: 1) Primary responsibilities include the development of e-learning materials using e-learning software. The candidate will work with a team of e-learning content and design experts to design and develop e-learning modules. 2) Candidate will also be responsible for helping to create and maintain team resources, including the teams Learning Management System, On-Boarding Portal, project management tool and department website. 3) Responsibility also includes management of the day-to-day budget process (including consulting agreements, statement of work, purchase orders, and invoice tracking & processing).
