The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) is a nonprofit organization working toward effective medical practice, research, and health promotion. We have fought for an emphasis on prevention, higher ethical standards in research, and scientific advances in basic research and effective drug development. PCRMs Toxicology and Regulatory Testing team finds and implements science and policy-based solutions to reduce and replace the use of animals in tests conducted by pesticide, chemical, drug, and cosmetic companies. The Toxicology and Regulatory Testing Intern will work with our Director of Regulatory Testing Issues on researching and preparing educational materials (web and print), assisting with grassroots, media and educational aspects of our campaign to encourage cosmetic companies to stop testing on animals, assisting with the teams lobbying activities, including tracking Capitol Hill visits and preparing materials, and assisting with the preparation of reports for the public or for peer-reviewed publication on topics related to animal testing. This internship is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the policy issues associated with efforts to promote alternatives to the use of animals for product and chemical testing while making a valuable contribution to PCRMs campaigns.
