The U.S. National Arboretum was established in 1927 by an Act of Congress. The Arboretum is administered by the U.S. Department of Agricultures Agricultural Research Service and maintains three locations in Washington D.C., Beltsville, MD, and McMinneville, TN. The mission of the Arboretum is to serve the public need for scientific research, education, and gardens that conserve and showcase plants to enhance the environment. The U.S. National Arboretum offers a limited number of internships to qualified individuals seeking on-the-job work experience and training in horticulture, botany, research, and education. Selected individuals gain hands-on experience throughout the Arboretum's various plant collections, greenhouses, and research laboratories. All interns complete a project (group or independent) during their internship. In addition interns will enjoy a series of field trips to area gardens. The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, class A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, are seeking a few smart, energetic, and hard working individuals to become seasonal front office interns. This unpaid internship is a great learning experience and will offer a window into the operations of a Minor league baseball team. The Food & Beverage Intern will report directly to the Food & Beverage Director and Intern Coordinator. This position will provide a clear picture of the overall operations of Food & Beverage in minor league baseball. The position is designed to offer an extensive amount of project and people management learning experiences as well as practical business basics such as cost vs. revenue and supply & demand. We are looking for people who can perform well in these capacities and have a passion for baseball. This internship requires a great amount of dedication throughout the baseball season. Interns will work long hours with their schedule each week changing depending on the team's game schedule. This position will learn to receive and store all food & beverage inventory. Learn to complete monthly inventory of all food & beverage items as well as rotating stock. Learn to coordinate with Food & Beverage Director to maintain correct inventory of all necessary items. Learn to supervise assigned areas (concession stands, picnic areas, portables, etc.) and seasonal employees. During the business day, all interns will also learn about sales through a combination of training and hands on experience. Responsibilities include making outbound sales calls, data entry, and assisting with promotions and community outreach. He/she will help create the most fun environment possible at Volcanoes Stadium, both in and around the stadium by offering the most delectable food available, and entertainment to be enjoyed with it. This may include bands for our entertainment deck, tables for our concourse and, of course, fans to enjoy it all. This will be done through phone calls and meetings, as sales is the one skill everyone in minor league baseball must possess (we will provide sales training, but prior experience is always a plus.) Most of all, he/she must be able keep a high level of energy and have fun all season long.

The intern will work with the Registrar in assisting with inventorying and re-housing of the Museums extensive object collection into a new storage space. The object collection contains three dimensional artifacts ranging from furniture to advertising memorabilia.

The Education Camp Intern is responsible for presenting educational information to visitors and program participants as based upon the specific requirements set forth by Zoo New England (ZNE) and by the participating college or university, if applicable. In general, duties will include assisting full-time education staff in developing the day camp curriculum, assists full-time education staff in conducting the day camp, conduct informal public presentations, and administrative duties as needed. Opportunities for program animal handling, interpretive materials design may also be available. The Education Camp Intern will encourage the public to think and to learn about animals, habitats and conservation by helping them interpret Zoo New Englands collection. The Education Camp Intern is expected to complete a project by the end of the internship.
