Description of the Program/Site: The Center for Urban Community Services, a national leader in the development of effective housing and service initiatives for homeless people, invites applications for a Summer Internship position at the CUCS Harlem Transitional Services. HTS provides chronically street homeless individuals with mental illness and/or substance abuse assistance in obtaining and maintaining permanent housing. The program includes the 40- bed Kelly Transitional Living Community and the Housing Placement Center. The Housing First/Harm Reduction Model is used to engage people who otherwise may not accept services. The Kelly Transitional Living Community is seeking a summer intern to assist with the following responsibilities: Developing a resource bank for vocational and recreational activities for the residents of the Kelly and assisting with site tours and enrollment for the programs that are identified; Coaching residents on shopping, budgeting, and the management of their Activities of Daily Living; facilitating recreational groups/outings; and escorting residents to housing, medical or entitlement appointments. What can the Intern expect to learn? This internship will give interns entry into the field of client centered social service provision. They will learn the skills needed to engage the clientele at the program. They will learn strategies for accessing the public resources available to the clients. They will also learn to advocate for the client service needs.

Country Analyst Volunteer

Overview: Since 2002, the Clinton Health Access Initiative, CHAI (formerly the Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative), has been assisting developing countries in implementing large-scale, integrated HIV care, treatment, and prevention programs. CHAI is currently active in Africa, the Caribbean, Asia, and Eastern Europe. In support of national HIV/AIDS programs, CHAI provides technical assistance, mobilizes human and financial resources, and facilitates the sharing of best practices across projects. CHAI has also negotiated agreements with leading pharmaceutical companies that have lowered the cost of HIV/AIDS and malaria diagnostics and treatment in the developing world by 30-90%. CHAI first partnered with the Government of Cambodia in February 2005 to enable the country access to affordable drug and lab commodity prices through CHAIs Procurement Consortium. CHAI provides technical assistance to the National Center for HIV/AIDS, Dermatology and STDs (NCHADS) for projects related to logistics, supply chain management, laboratory strengthening, pediatric care and treatment scale-up and prevention of mother-to-child transmission. Following a successful scale-up of PMTCT services Cambodia endeavours to eliminate mother to child transmission of HIV by the year 2020. CHAI is currently seeking candidates for the position of County Analyst to work with the HIV team in Cambodia. Reporting to the Country Director, the Phnom Penh based analyst will support the launch and implementation of a national campaign to eliminate vertical transmission of HIV. A minimum commitment of 18 months is preferred for this role.

This position requires a minimum commitment of 4 days/ week and consistent attendance to ensure that projects are seen to completion. ABOUT AMERICARES AmeriCares is a nonprofit global health and disaster relief organization that delivers medicines, medical supplies and aid to people in need around the world and across the United States. Since it was established in 1982, AmeriCares has distributed more than $10 billion in humanitarian aid to 164 countries. POSITION SUMMARY The Web Team in the Communications Department serves a global constituency of donors, recipients, partners (donor & program) and a growing community of people who are at various levels of engagement with the mission of AmeriCares. The team maintains/builds/enhances all of the online channels of communication including multiple web sites, applications and a growing presence in social media (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and YouTube). The team also creates/develops/publishes content for each channel. The Communications Department produces an increasing amount of dynamic content for all the online channels, and the web team handles the production and publication of the content (text and digital) to our web platforms. The Web Publication intern would learn the basics of publishing to our content management platforms, and then help in ongoing publication, testing and updating of the site on a daily basis. Solid web skills including use of Google, Adobe and Microsoft tools would be required with HTML knowledge very helpful. Reporting to the Web Designer, the intern would also have the opportunity to expand development experience in the building of a micro-site.
