The Seat Pleasant Volunteer Fire Co. is pleased to announce the immediate availability of one college (undergraduate or graduate) internship position for the fall 2012 and spring 2013 college semesters. This is a unique opportunity for those interested in fire, emergency, or non-profit organizational management and leadership. About the Fire Co.: Seat Pleasant Volunteer Fire Co. enjoys a rich, 97 year history of providing fire suppression, emergency medical service, and community support in our city of 6,800 residents. As a founding member of the Prince Georges County Volunteer Fire Association, we respond as part of the Prince Georges County Fire Department to emergency and non-emergency requests for service in Seat Pleasant, Capitol Heights, District Heights, Ritchie, Fairmont Heights and Largo, Maryland. Our companies first-due encompasses a total of 5.5 square miles, serving 250,000 citizens. In the first nine months of 2012, our fire suppression apparatus responded to 1,970 calls for service, and our ambulance answered 2,860 alarms.

Gallery Aferro interns have the unique opportunity to work closely with staff and the larger arts community in learning all aspects of a nonprofit organization. Because Gallery Aferro is both a presenting and a workspace organization with strong connections to cultural professionals, the internship position can build excellent professional skills/contacts and a breadth of knowledge that goes well beyond the work involved. Internships at Gallery Aferro are particularly beneficial to motivated and enthusiastic individuals who are interested in cultivating marketing, operations and arts administration experience in order to gain work experience and fulfill career goals in the art world. Gallery Aferro is a Newark, NJ-based nonprofit alternative arts organization founded in 2003. Gallery Aferro currently operates out of a 20,000 sq ft building in downtown Newark. We offer exhibitions and events featuring local, national and international artists, a year-round workspace residency program, a publication line consisting of artists books, essays and exhibition catalogs, and educational resources including school tours and Identity Blueprint, a free workshop program in photography, digital animation and carpentry for high school-age young women from Newark. Social Media interns will work closely with the Artistic Director to develop and promote Gallery Aferro events, resources and mission through our website, two program blogs, and social media outlets.

An interns concentration embraces the front desk information services, reservations, and financial transactions and record keeping as well as assisting with the Pro Shop sales, court maintenance and member relations. We are looking for students with a high level of people skills, sports management, accounting, finance and marketing. Prior high school or collegiate tennis team participation or avid tennis enthusiast a plus.
