There is no fixed pay at this time. ULife will cover any costs associated with the work we ask you to do, if needed. Phillips Wharf Environment Center, www.pwec.org, was created to provide a hands-on experience, especially for children, with the many species of marine life, animals and plants that live in the Chesapeake Bay. The Center offers live exhibits, waterside activities, aquarium displays, tours, and field trips. Its mission is to Inform, Inspire, and Involve those who live in the Chesapeake Bay watershed to take action on its behalf. In addition to learning about the environment and ecosystem, visitors also gain an in-depth understanding about how the watermen harvest Bay resources. Phillips Wharf Environmental Center (PWEC) is offering a unique internship opportunity. Gain hands-on experience while making substantial contributions to environmental education in the Chesapeake Bay region. We are actively recruiting for a college student majoring in Biology, Marine Biology, Environmental Science, Fishery Science, or related field who is ready for a resume-builder opportunity. PWEC is located in the heart of the Chesapeake Bay on Tilghmans Island, Maryland. The intern will work in direct contact with experienced environmental scientists and marine biologists. Duration is May - August, with negotiable start and end dates. These positions are unpaid, however 1 position will be paid if grant funding is successful. Housing may be available.

AmeriCorps volunteers will have the following responsibilities: o Increase Scientific Literacy - Learn natural history content of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem - Learn teaching pedagogy and student management through helping facilitate Teton Science Schools Field Education programs o Community Engagement -Work with a community organization on a project that increases scientific literacy and promotes community engagement o Volunteer Generation - Recruit volunteers to support community service projects that promote science and education o Serve as a full member of the Field Education Team - Work with and receive mentoring from professional field instructors and faculty - Co-facilitate field activities, evening programs, meal-time curriculum, shared campus cleaning, conference logistics and gear logistics - Ensure participants safety during all instructor-led activities of the program, both in the field and at Teton Science Schools facilities - Drive fifteen passenger vans, canoe trailers, cargo trailers and mini-buses to transport students, staff and equipment to field sites o Serve as a full member of the AmeriCorps Team - Timely completion of AmeriCorps requirements including but not limited to reflections, time logs, self-evaluation, service requirements and portfolio

Educational interns assist marine educators during summer camp sessions. Program Dates: Summer Camp runs from July 8th- August 23rd (including a mandatory intern training session June). Interns are required to work a minimum of 80 hours. This can be in combination with aquarist maintenance. Intern Schedules: Shifts will be pre-assigned based on your availability.
