Job Description As the Project Management Intern, youll be working directly with our Web Project Manager and Marketing Managers to learn the systems and processes we use to design and develop web sites and applications for our clients. Youll be meeting with clients, monitoring development tickets, and getting a feel for the workflow needed to make our campaigns successful. MAJOR FUNCTION: Under general direction, monitors, analyzes, interprets and summarizes scientific/technical information principally relevant to food products. Assists developing, organizing and implementing multiple scientific affairs and communication efforts for trade associations as well as other projects assigned by management. Contributes to the development of research critiques, standby statements, and position statements. Works on assigned projects with the goal of exceeding client expectations, including the internal team and the external association members. Assists with the development and implementation of projects such as newsletters, brochures, presentations, events, web site content and other specialty items for clients as well as handling scientific affairs. RESPONSIBILITIES: Review scientific journals, reports, articles, media reports and summarize and critique for clients Provide written critiques of relevant scientific articles and coordinate scientific research projects Handle multiple projects simultaneously Collaborate with team to develop scientific content of Internet sites Prepare, track and meet project schedules, reporting to management and ensuring communication is frequent and bi-directional Write review articles on various scientific/technical topics. This is a three to six month internship or a one or two semester internship and it can be scheduled according to the academic calendar year as needed. We seek a creative, highly skilled individual interested in helping to produceLeft Forum's program guide for the June 2013 conference, website content, html email blasts, and accompanying graphics. The 2012 program was 148 pages, consisting of the schedule, speaker bios, ads, map, index, etc. ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP We're a small organization with a dedicated group of organizers, staff, and volunteers, leaving lots of room for your creativity. You'll have the opportunity to work in an interesting (and very relaxed!) office in the CUNY Graduate Center where you'll can interact with scholars, graduate students and people who are involved with grassroots social justice movements. This internship is unpaid, although academic credit is available. Hours are flexiblewe ask for 15-20 hours a weekand can be adapted to fit your schedule. People with diverse backgrounds and experience are encouraged to apply. As Left Forum is currently working with expert web and database developers in a major development process, this internship will provide you with a rare opportunity to contribute to this formative process. It will also enable you to hone your technical and organizational skills and gain valuable, high-profile experience in the academic and nonprofit arenas. The position will help build an individuals strengths in the areas of systems administration, configuration, operation and content management, and/or programming, and can be adapted to your specific interests.
