Internship Information__________________________________________________________________________ Our Goal for you is to have an educational and hands of experience into the world of Athletics here at the City of Cape Coral. You will learn the roles of an Athletic Assistant and the staff behind the division, while receiving hands on training in need to know areas. This internship was created to give students a better understanding of the field they are going into. Each intern will work a 500 Hour block, plus athletic events and will be able to experience the citywide programs the Athletic Division offers. Start and end dates along with event hours and office hours are flexible depending upon the reasoning. Maintaining and promoting employee and student health is essential to achieve the Districts mission of inspiring students to learn, dream and achieve. HealthVantages focus is on the employees health promotion and wellness programs. The variety of services offered includes group exercise and weight management programs, an employee fitness center with small group personal training, preventative screenings and wellness consultations, on-site employee flu shots, wellness education (seminars and special events), tobacco cessations programs, and District-wide fitness and nutrition challenges. Intern Description The Fitness Specialist Intern will work in the award winning HealthVantage Program at the School Board of Manatee County building, the Employee Fitness Center, and various schools sites in the district. The intern will be under direction of the Wellness Coordinator and Wellness Specialist. He/She will gain experience in wellness promotion and communication, health education, fitness, corporate wellness and special populations including (but not limited to) Diabetes, Overweight/Obese, and Aging.
