Behind the Book is a literacy nonprofit with the mission to excite youth about reading and promote a reading culture in inner-city public schools in NYC. We bring published authors and illustrators into classrooms to lead a series of curriculum-based workshops and guide students through the completion of a unique final project. For every author visit, students are provided with an individual copy of the authors book and are required to produce a written or illustrated project.
