Cape Ann Whale Watch is accepting applications for its Field Research and Environmental Education Internship. Based in Gloucester, Ma, our whale watch boat takes between 150 and 250 passengers a day on whale watches in and around the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary. We work to educate passengers on whales, marine mammals, and the marine environment to foster a sense of importance and personal responsibility in doing a part to contribute to the wellbeing of the environment. Passengers aboard the Hurricane II are an extremely diverse group of people ranging from elementary school children to families from across the globe. Up to four interns and one naturalist on every trip help accomplish our goal of educating people about whales and fostering a stronger appreciation and respect for whales and the ocean environment. With this newfound respect and appreciation, the team of educators also hopes to positively influence how the passengers regard the environment and to increase their role in helping to preserve it. The whales and the environment have a better chance of surviving if we can change the attitudes and behaviors of our passengers. In order to accomplish this goal, the interns circulate the boat with hands-on teaching tools to educate the public about whales and their environment. To give an idea of what we use: There are samples of whale baleen and teeth for passengers to touch. A 3-D model of Stellwagen Bank allows people to better understand why whales migrate to the coast of Massachusetts. Our whale tail identification board allows passengers to become scientists and test their skills at matching whale tails. Once the actual whale watching begins, the naturalist provides educational interpretive commentary while the interns collect data on whale behavior and identification for our research project. The interns are also on board to answer questions on a wide variety of topics, on everything from whale behavior to whale conservation. Finally, the interns are expected to help with the general functioning of the whale watching vessel.

The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, class A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, are seeking a few smart, energetic, and hard working individuals to become seasonal front office interns. This unpaid internship is a great learning experience and will offer a window into the operations of a Minor league baseball team. The Food & Beverage Intern will report directly to the Food & Beverage Director and Intern Coordinator. This position will provide a clear picture of the overall operations of Food & Beverage in minor league baseball. The position is designed to offer an extensive amount of project and people management learning experiences as well as practical business basics such as cost vs. revenue and supply & demand. We are looking for people who can perform well in these capacities and have a passion for baseball. This internship requires a great amount of dedication throughout the baseball season. Interns will work long hours with their schedule each week changing depending on the team's game schedule. This position will learn to receive and store all food & beverage inventory. Learn to complete monthly inventory of all food & beverage items as well as rotating stock. Learn to coordinate with Food & Beverage Director to maintain correct inventory of all necessary items. Learn to supervise assigned areas (concession stands, picnic areas, portables, etc.) and seasonal employees. During the business day, all interns will also learn about sales through a combination of training and hands on experience. Responsibilities include making outbound sales calls, data entry, and assisting with promotions and community outreach. He/she will help create the most fun environment possible at Volcanoes Stadium, both in and around the stadium by offering the most delectable food available, and entertainment to be enjoyed with it. This may include bands for our entertainment deck, tables for our concourse and, of course, fans to enjoy it all. This will be done through phone calls and meetings, as sales is the one skill everyone in minor league baseball must possess (we will provide sales training, but prior experience is always a plus.) Most of all, he/she must be able keep a high level of energy and have fun all season long.

The Mather LifeWays Community Initiatives intern participates in meaningful learning experiences in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs/technology relevant to older adults. This hands-on opportunity will allow the intern to be involved with a variety of projects and develop a number of career-relevant skills. The experience must be relevant to the intern's academic and professional goals, and activities of Mather LifeWays Community Initiatives. An internship is performed under the direct supervision of CI Management Staff. This is an unpaid internship. The MOREways intern has the opportunity to gain meaningful experience in developing engagement/educational programs and research studies based on mission and goals of Mather LifeWays CI programs, work with a variety of departments that may include Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing and Community Initiatives, establish a professional network, and develop/enhance professional resume.

As a student intern your primary obligation and privilege will be to work with patients, caregivers, and sometimes staff creating projects and works of art. Each opportunity to meet with a participant is unique giving you the ability to use your skills and flexibility to discover new abilities in yourself and with whom you work. Your interactions with participants are meant to provide a deviation from any normal visit, in that you are providing opportunities to gain a skill, develop mastery, reduce nervousness, ultimately working for an improved experience. All work is with the arts and within the medium you know and love. This internship may also serve as in introduction to an Expressive Therapies internship. You will not be seeing clients in the same manner as in a therapeutic relationship, however many aspects to this internship serve as introductory components to Expressive Therapy practice in a healthcare setting. Your supervisor is an Expressive Therapist and will hold weekly discussions on Expressive Therapies topics.

Agency Mission: Save Our Youth (SOY) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, dedicated to transforming the lives of at-risk youth through mentor relationships, that provide the skills for success in educational, emotional, and spiritual development.
