The Video Production Assistant Intern works collaboratively with the Manager of Video/Multimedia Services to produce editorial and promotional videos. In addition to shooting and editing digital video, the Production Assistant Intern will gain experience working with a team to create engaging and informative video content.

They will have an opportunity to do the following: Operate cameras to produce live coverage for the Internet and closed circuit cable television. Research, write, shoot, edit, and produce video or radio segments for The Veterans Center Television. Conduct radio interviews with legislators and legislative staff or advocates within the community. Learn about various aspects of broadcast journalism and television production from industry professionals.

Operation interns work primarily in the Master Control and Control Room areas, where they are taught to load and cue tapes for air, setup satellite feeds, program and load commercial insertion equipment, and gain an appreciation for broadcast standards and references. The Control Room is where all the behind the scenes action occurs. During live broadcasts, this room is filled with Producers, Directors, Tape Operators and Graphics staff. Interns will learn how to operate audio equipment and the directors board. Master control is the heart of any broadcast operation and ultimately responsible for the technical quality of the on-air signal. An internship in operations can be used as a stepping stone to go on to studio production as a Director or Camera Operator. *Internships are available for school credit*
