Department Overview:
The Disney University is a function within the Human Resources / Diversity & Inclusion team and is responsible for providing learning experiences for all Cast, Crew and Imagineers within Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.

Responsibilities

This role will directly support the Director, Disney University Products and Services in the capacity of several large scale learning efforts. Responsibilities include, but not limited to assisting in the project management of the development and implementation of one or more global curriculum projects; researching emerging trends in leadership development, providing logistical or document support for work sessions or meetings, and/or collecting and analyzing data.

Basic Qualifications These are the minimum qualifications you need to be considered for this position:

  • Currently a Senior earning a degree in Human Resources / Organizational Development, Industrial / Organizational Psychology, Statistics, Business or related major

Internship Eligibility:
  • Must be enrolled in a U. S. college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Not have already completed two consecutive (spring/fall) College or Professional Internship Programs
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization

  • Current Active Disney cast members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines (for Walt Disney World cast members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; for Disneyland cast members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months)


Program Length:
The approximate dates of this internship are June 2013 through January 2014. Interns must be fully available for the duration of the internship.

Housing:
For positions located in Central Florida only , a limited amount of company-sponsored housing is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Participants in California are responsible for identifying their own housing accommodations.

Responsibilities

Supports assigned CP, Producers and Associate Producers with the production of all or parts of assigned international live or taped studio show and shows remote; assistance provided includes gathering production elements for live and taped programming such as: video clips, graphics and research support.
Assigned to prepare and edit semi-routine pre production elements such as video clips, highlights, teases and features for use in live and taped events; prepares program fillers and other interstitial materials.
Conducts research in the video archives and develops relationships with different ESPN International Networks to obtain material to support shows needs.
Assists in capturing and assembling production elements for on-line video highlights, features and teases.
Provides timely, accurate and complete delivery of multimedia elements and publishes to various platforms.
Screens and coordinates incoming live transmissions.
Maintains updated production manuals and element reels.
Can function as graphics coordinator for assigned studio telecasts of live and taped events.
Works with technical and production personnel to create an informative and entertaining program.
Adjusts to and interprets breaking news situations.
Works with on-air staff to write accurate and informative stories.
Teleprompter functions during show.
Leverages US based and international libraries and highlight-gathering operation to support international shows needs.
Researches and prepares story ideas for future shows.
Proposes ways statistics can be exploited in ESPN storytelling or as premium products on TV.

Basic Qualifications Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) candidates

Preferred Qualifications Minimum one year related production experience, including experience with sports news.
Candidate must demonstrate the ability to show leadership, to drive content and to leverage relationships by working collaboratively with team members.
Detailed technical knowledge not required, but must have knowledge of what works on TV and what is realistic to accomplish in time allotted for show production.
Must possess demonstrated communication skills and ability to react quickly and positively under a wide variety of sensitive production situations that continually arise and are subject to change.
Deep knowledge of US and International sports/rules/athletes (both current and historical, especially Soccer with special focus on Concacaf and European leagues, NBA, NFL, MLB and Tennis).
Strong knowledge of US Hispanic television sports and market.
