The position of industrial designer co-op is responsible to work in a cross-functional team environment assisting the Manager, R&D - Design, from concept to finished product. Develop and design concepts for new products and product lines. Project may be independent from the Manager, R&D - Design and focused on short-term deliverables. Work with freehand sketches as well as CAD models in both 2D and 3D, using programs such as Adobe Illustrator, Solidworks, or Pro-E. Prototype design concepts to demonstrate their appearance and evaluate functionality. Reports to the Sr, Industrial Designer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assisting the NPD team on the research element of product development
· Work closely with the product development teams under the direction of the Sr. Industrial Designer in the development process.
· Refine designs in Solidworks or Pro-E platforms.
· Create concept renderings in Keyshot.
· Prototyping / modeling of design concepts. Assist in prototype development (Z-Corp, Eden, painting, etc.)
· Support the design team in general where necessary.
Qualifications This position requires one to be enrolled in an Industrial Design, at the respective University. Must have two years of course work completed towards an Industrial Design degree. Must be familiar with Microsoft Software, Including Adobe Illustrator. Ideally have some experience on Alias or Pro-E Knowledge of the housewares industry a plus. Strong interest in culinary arts also preferred.
