Development Intern
Equality Texas —
Austin, TX
Equality Texas is in the business of securing equality in the state by advocating and lobbying for the elimination of discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity/expression. To do this, we must raise funds in the philanthropic community and awareness among all Texans to maintain and increase capacity for outreach, advocacy and education across the state. The Development Intern at Equality Texas plays an integral role in expanding fundraising opportunities through data management, grant research, event coordination, and other development support to help Equality Texas reach and exceed goals.
We are currently seeking interns for the Spring Semester. The minimum time commitment for academic year interns is one semester. Interns are encouraged to earn credit for their time, but volunteers are welcome as well. Average hours per week are 12-20 hours with flexibility for actual days worked. All positions are non-paid. People with experience in community organizing or grassroots organizations preferred.
The Equality Texas office is located in downtown Austin within walking distance to the State Capitol. The office is a friendly and fun place to work. Internships with the Development Department offer you a chance to make a difference while you build your experience and résumé.
How to Apply: Please email a letter of interest, resume and at least two references to Chuck Smith, Interim Executive Director, at Chuck@EqualityTexas.org.
In your letter, tell us why you would like to be an intern at Equality Texas and what civil rights issues concern you the most. Also, please include days and hours available, previous intern or volunteer experience, list any skills that are particularly suited for the internship position, and a phone number or e-mail at which you can be reached.
