Community Events and Programs Summer Internship

Internship Period: We are looking for several candidates who are available to start no later than May 2012. This internship is full-time requiring a minimum commitment of about 35 hours/week. The work hours are negotiable, but they must fit within the confines of a standard Monday - Friday work week.
*Please Note: As successful interns conclude their service, they will join us in the on-site execution of Family Week in Provincetown, August 3rd through August 10th. (Housing, travel & food during Family Week are provided for interns by Family Equality Council.)
Background: Family Equality Council connects, supports, and represents the one million parents in this country who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, and the two million children they are raising. Over the past 30 years we have built an approach that strengthens families in three ways: building our community to support parents and children; sharing our stories to open hearts and minds; and raising our voices to create social justice for all families.
Internship Summary: The Community Events & Programs Interns are an integral part of the Programs Team and play a hands-on role in all Family Equality Council community programs. This unpaid internship involves community outreach, event planning and execution, use of social media, fundraising, and more. Success in this position requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to problem solve independently, a team-oriented mindset, highly developed communication skills (written and verbal), superior interpersonal skills, and a commitment to social justice and fun!
