Technical Support Intern: We are currently accepting applications for a Technical Support Intern to join our team in Bedford, MA. This position will provide technical assistance and training to end users of our desktop GIS (mapping) applications. The position also requires software testing, maintenance of various support databases and web pages, writing and debugging of installation scripts and data analysis. The ideal candidate will have basic knowledge of software technical support and have a desire to build upon that knowledge. Knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office products, GIS software, database applications and statistical software is strongly recommended. Solid writing skills are essential. Job Duties: Provide technical assistance to end users of various GIS applications including Territory Mapper and AlignStar. Maintain customer and prospect databases. Log technical support calls. Perform QA testing on new software versions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Respond to pre and post-sale user inquiries regarding the capabilities of software. Provide technical assistance to end-users on the use of software to accomplish a particular task. Test new software releases to ensure that they function correctly. Establish testing plans and procedures and carry out product testing in accordance with accepted procedures. Maintain logs and databases of reported issues, customer installations, shipping records and other activities. Maintain technical support web pages including FAQs, technical notes and downloads. Respond to client inquiries concerning software operation and diagnose software problems. Recommend or perform remedial actions to correct problems. Provide updates, status, and completion information to manager, problem request tracking system, and/or users, via voice mail, e-mail, or in-person communication.
