Internship with Notations on Non-profits; Blog Writer After working with several local nonprofit organizations, Notations on Non-profits is a blog I created in late 2009 to address legal issues I saw them encountering in an accessible way and provide resources that would allow readers to go out and implement the things I talked about. Participants at Nouveau Antique Art Bar brought a plain white T-shirt they had slept in for 3 nights in a row to be sniffed in search of that elusive attractive Pheromone. The event garnered attention from ABC-News 20/20, Fox 26 Houston, KPRC-TV Houston, Chron.com/29-95, the Houston Press and media as far afield as Dallas and Colorado. HSS held the world-premiere of our Texting Party whereby participants used an app on their phone to anonymously text fellow guests. Guests identities were ultimately revealed at the end of the night once a connection had been made sans the prejudice of physical appearance. Other one-of-a-kind events include: Cougar-BoyToy Speed Dating, Rescue Me Fireman, 7 Minutes In Heaven, Test-Drive Speed Dating, and Message In A Bottle to name a few. These events have garnered local media attention as stated above as well as Culturemap, The Examiner, KPFT, The Houston Chronicle and KHOU Channel 11. HSS also holds traditional mixers per age range, ladies nights, brunches and networking parties. With approximately six to ten events a month there is never a dull moment in our social club. We have an immediate opening for a Marketing Intern to be responsible for evaluating and analyzing potential customer leads for the Houston Social Source. The intern will be responsible for Social Media, generating new business leads and possible partnerships.
