Winter Internship

Flowers contemporary art gallery in Chelsea is looking for a gallery assistant for the Spring semester. The intern will be working closely with the manager and director, and will be expected to assist with administrative duties including answering phones, interacting with clients/institutions, organization, assembling mailings, running errands, etc. Additionally, the intern is expected to assist with general gallery maintenance and art handling, such as cleaning, installations, and wrapping, delivering, and shipping artworks. During the term of the internship, there will be several opportunities for special projects involving research, writing, and communication with press outlets. While this is an unpaid internship, this opportunity will provide a wealth of experience for students hoping to pursue a career in the arts at a premier international gallery. Intern must be available to work at least 3 days a week (gallery hours are Tuesday - Saturday 10am-6pm). The ideal candidate will be mature, affable, reliable, organized, and energetic. A background in art history, fine arts, humanities and/or office administration. Candidates should be comfortable using Microsoft office and an understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite (photoshop etc) is helpful but not required. Graphic design experience is a plus. Contact with artists, collectors, museums and other galleries personnel occurs daily and requires strong and clear communication skills.
