Do you love cartoons and animation? Do you have a degree in Illustration, Graphic Design, Animation, or Fine Art? Are you free to work in NYC during the 2013 spring semester? If so, join Brainscape to help develop a French language video supplement for our upcoming French app! New York-based ed-tech startup Brainscape (brainscape.com) is looking for someone to illustrate panels for 20 short instructional French videos. The videos will later be adapted to other foreign languages. Your work will eventually be seen by thousands of language learners as we continue to grow our web/mobile education platform, and you'll be credited by name as Brainscape publishes its leading language mobile apps for iTunes and other mobile markets. This is the perfect opportunity for any aspiring illustrator, cartoonist, or animator to build his/her portfolio and make important contacts in the New York tech startup community. Our ideal candidate must be available to work FULL-TIME in Midtown Manhattan for approximately three months (February - April 2013). Freelance illustrators outside NY who are able to work full-time can also apply. You will receive a stipend, participate in a professional mentorship program, and receive great letters of recommendation if you are a top performer. We might even hire you for a full-time job in the future! The Hope Reichbach Memorial Fund (Hope Fund) provides vital learning experiences and career development for underprivileged college students, inviting them into a network centered around Hope Reichbachs memory and values of active leadership and communal responsibility. The Fund was launched after Hopes passing in April 2011, and through this effort we, her family and friends, continue to grow Hopes legacy. The Hope Fund provides stipends for students who to take traditionally unpaid internships in civic leadership and grassroots community organizing in the borough of Brooklyn. Benefits Awarded to Hope Fund Grantees: -       Compensation: Students are provided the opportunity to work in Brooklyn-based organizations in traditionally unpaid internships for $10/hour for full time work (35-40 hours/week) for ten weeks. -       Vital Learning Opportunities: By matching students with unique organizations at the forefront of changing and improving their communities, these internships provide students with hands-on experience of what its like to push the boundaries, explore their talents, and influence social change. -       An Early Start to their Professional Career: The summer internships, which are available to freshman and sophomore college students, expose them to substantive work experience in the public or social sector before they graduate from college and the skills to maximize the impact of their experiences to forging their own path. -       A Strong Network and Community: The circle of Hope is comprised of Hopes family, friends, and colleagues. Resource Development Intern, The Center for Urban community Services

The Schermerhorn is a supportive housing project, run by CUCS, The Actor's Fund and Common Ground. The intern will be a volunteer for CUCS. The Center for Urban Community Services (CUCS) is a pioneer in creating comprehensive, effective housing and service programs for homeless and low-income people, primarily single adults, particularly those suffering from serious mental illness, HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, and other disabling conditions. Since its inception at Columbia University in 1979, CUCS has also worked to improve public policy affecting the homeless and dispossessed. Thousands of formerly homeless people have found independence and rebuilt their lives with the help of CUCS' programs and services. The Center for Urban Community Services invites applications for 1 summer internship position at The Schermerhorn. The Schermerhorn, located in Boerum Hill Brooklyn, is a 216 unit supportive housing residence for low income tenants, many of whom have histories of mental illness, homelessness, substance abuse, trauma and /or HIV/AIDS. The summer intern will be an active participant on the core social services team at the Schermerhorn, with a focus on resource development to strengthen relationships with outside community providers. The intern will receive a monthly unlimited metro card for the duration of their internship, to accommodate travel to and from work as well as in the surrounding community to explore local resources.
