City Growers seeks Rooftop Farm Education Interns to lead tours of Brooklyn Grange to local classes of students, ages K-12, for the spring season. This internship offers the right candidates an opportunity to gain meaningful teaching experience in the field of environmental education. We are seeking creative educators with a passion for food, farms, and the urban environment. Start date is flexible to accommodate students seeking school credit for the spring term. Non-students must be able to begin training March 15. City Growers is an educational non-profit established in 2011 by the founders of Brooklyn Grange, a rooftop farm business located in New York City. The organization provides food and farm educational opportunities for children and young adults throughout the area, using Brooklyn Grange's rooftop farms as learning laboratories. Time Commitment Requirements: Optional: Date of hire - March 15: Minimum 6 hours/week (weekdays only) Farm is closed to school groups during this period, but intern may elect to support educational program development to fulfill school requirement or otherwise get involved with City Growers' work Required: March 15 - April 1: 2 full days of education training Required: April 1- July 1: at least two weekdays per week, from 8:30-3:00 Start date of internship is flexible, but candidate must be able to begin educational training by March 15
