Overview:

The Store Planning Intern you will work with the Allocation team to ensure the correct store sales and inventory plans, identify weekly sales and inventory opportunities, and help the Allocation team execute any required changes.  The Store Planning intern will also help support the Companys extensive new store opening and relocation strategy by making sure that we have the correct sales and inventory plan for each opening store.

This position is for Summer 2013, start and end dates vary according to school schedules.



Responsibilities:

  • Help develop store inventory plans down to the department level. Review store size, type and seasonality to determine the optimal levels to achieve sales, turn and gross margin plans
  • Work closely with merchandising and allocation to ensure we reach our inventory goals
  • Develop a perspective on weekly flow to store requirements, and work with Planning, Merchandising and Allocation to ensure we meet these expectations
  • Help develop and maintain store level sales and inventory exception reporting, to identify areas of opportunity
  • Assist with review of regular-price vs. discounted inventory and follow up on any transfers needed to balance levels
  • Identify and communicate any deficiencies or imbalances and help recommend appropriate actions to remedy
  • Review store sales performance by classification, store type, etc. and communicate any sales and inventory imbalances
  • Help with recommendations for monthly sales plans


Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an Associate or Bachelors degree program in Fashion Merchandising, Business Administration, Finance, or related field
  • Experience in a retail field environment preferred
  • Strong computer skills, including high degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, and presentation skills
  • Ability to operate independently while establishing strong working relationships with co-workers and cross-functional teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Qualifications:
