ARTS & PUBLISHING NONPROFIT INTERNSHIPS: Writing & Editing Internship
New Oregon Arts & Letters —
Portland, OR — Virtual
ABOUT THIS GIG
First things first: the writing & editing internship requires a minimum commitment of 10 hours a week for three months, or 15 hours a month for six months. Training and getting to know you takes a lot of energy and time on our part. NO FLAKES.
Great, that's out of the way. Writing and publishing require juggling multiple skill sets and constantly learning new information. Get up close in this internship! You'll be working with the editor of Plazm magazine and a related new website, plazm.org, and the director of New Oregon.
Founded by Portland artists in 1991, Plazm is an award-winning magazine of design, art, music, literature, and culture, beautifully printed on quality paper. Plazm publishes new and unknown talent alongside established folks like Iggy Pop, David Lynch, and Yoko Ono. The magazine is known for taking risks, including artistically unusual work, innovative writing, and political art.
Spring internship: begins Feb 15
Summer internship: begins in June/flexible dates
ABOUT NEW OREGON ARTS & LETTERS
New Oregon Arts & Letters creates and presents arts, literature, and media. Our programming encourages collaboration, supports interdisciplinary practices, and contextualizes creative culture. New Oregon Arts & Letters is committed to fostering innovation, integrity, and critical dialogue across a broad range of communities.
In other words, we like making cool stuff and experiences for (and with) our community.
We're the presenters of the New Oregon Interview Series and the proud new publisher of a 20-year-old design, art, and lit magazine called PLAZM. Other projects have included book arts, performance, and big-ass multidisciplinary shows and events.
We are an all-volunteer organization. We have no paid positions to offer. However, we do write pretty awesome recommendation letters for the deserving, and offer plenty of opportunities to boost your clips, CV, or portfolio.
NEW WEBSITES
We are currently building new websites for our organization (neworegon.org) and our publishing ventures (plazm.org). To find out more about Plazm magazine in the meantime, see plazm.com.
