Site Operations Intern

Year Up's mission is to close the Opportunity Divide in our country by providing urban young adults with the skills, experience, and support that will empower them to reach their potential through professional careers and higher education. Through a one-year intensive training program, Year Up provides urban young adults ages 18-24 with a unique combination of hands-on technical and professional skills, college credit, and corporate internships. Year Up lives by and adheres to a core set of values that reflects an unshakable belief in the talent and full potential of our young adults. With a $40 million operating budget, Year Up will serve more than 1,500 students in 2012 across nine sites in Atlanta, Baltimore (community college pilot program), Boston, Chicago, New York City, Providence, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington, D.C. In 2009, when 75% of non-profits either did not grow or remained flat, Year Up grew its revenue by 23%, enabling us to increase the number of students we serve by 56%. Year Up has the distinction of being rated one of the Top 10 non-profits in the nation by U.S. News and World Report, one of the 50 best nonprofits to work for by the NonProfit Times, and one of the best non-profits to work for by Opportunity Knocks. In 2009, the Harvard Business School published a case study on Year Ups origins and success. Position Overview: The Site Operations Intern is responsible for supporting the Operations department for the Year Up Providence site. Working collaboratively with the Operations staff, the Site Operations Intern will assist in providing administrative and project management support for daily operations and the relocation project to our new site in March 2013. Site Operations Intern will also participate in the development and installation of Microsoft SharePoint applications on our intranet. Finally, the Site Operations Intern will also assist Year Up staff with event management, planning, catering, and human resources as needed or required. The successful candidate for this position is detail oriented and extremely organized. S/he must also be flexible enough to work in a fast-paced, growing environment. In keeping with Year Ups values, the Site Operations Intern will also interact with students as an advocate, participating in creating and sustaining a positive educational environment, with trust among students, faculty and worksite leaders.

Public Relations Internship

Save The Bay seeks a highly motivated individual to support Save The Bay's public relations initiatives. The position will support the Communications Department. This internship will be approximately 21-35 hours per week. Responsibilities: Assist with the creation and implementation of pr plans Maintain media lists and archive articles Research and write articles for Save The Bay publications.
