Ashkenaz Music & Dance Community Center 1317 San Pablo @ Gilman, Berkeley | www.ashkenaz.com PR and Marketing Internship in Music Industry and Non-profit Community Relations Spring Semester Application deadline: February 15th at 5 pm Description: Ashkenaz seeks interns this Spring for marketing, community outreach, and musical research in an effort to reach new audiences in target communities. Research in target communities includes: assessing community needs, implementing reach-out strategies, and becoming familiar with musical preferences. So far, Ashkenaz has worked with several communities on the UC Berkeley campus including KALX, I-House, UC Berkeley Music Department, and the Art Department. You will have a chance to become involved in our on-going projects which include Cal Music Spotlight and Cal Talent Night. Cal Music Spotlight invites student to compete in an online voting contest to perform as an opening act at Ashkenaz, and Cal Talent Night invites various artists and musicians to showcase their talent in an end of semester event. The goal for Spring 2013 interns is to build a lasting relationship between Ashkenaz and individual target communities. This may include concert brainstorming, event planning, and show promotions to the communities. TWO internships are available. Internships are not paid, but college credit is available. Positions are 10-15 hours per week, from mid February through mid May.
