Development Intern

Located in Alexandria, Virginia, Mental Health America seeks an energetic development intern to assist with special projects and day-to-day operations. Ideal candidates will have an interest in non-profits and fundraising. The internship will entail building donor relations, assisting with gift entry, mailings, and conducting internet research as needed. Special projects include development of online fundraising activities and foundation and major gift research. Mental Health America is always accepting applications from prospective interns throughout the year (Fall, Spring, and Summer Semesters). No relocation or housing costs will be provided. If you live away from Alexandria, VA, but want to intern or volunteer, you should take a look at the local Mental Health America affiliate - many of them have strong internship programs with great opportunities. Social Media Intern

Currently accepting for spring and summer 2013! Mental Health America is recruiting a Social Media Communications Intern for the office in Alexandria, VA. This position is ideal for students interested in pursuing careers in new media, marketing, business and communications. This position is available year round. We take pride in considering our internships hands-on' learning experiences. If you intern at our office, you'll get a wide range of experience and access to staff members who can help coach you and teach you practical applications for all the things you learned in school. As the Social Media Communications Intern, you will be actively involved in developing strategies to increase brand recognition for Mental Health America by improving social media presence, developing content and messaging, and planning creative ways to get our name and message out there. You'll work closely with our team to enhance the social media presence of the organization on a number of platforms. When you intern here, you will learn how to: Use social media to increase message and brand Use various social media systems Create and execute a marketing plan Other duties as assigned You should... Have experience working with (but not limited to) Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn Have an interest in marketing, business or communications Have strong writing skills Produce high quality, error free work Communicate efficiently and professionally Proficiency with a wide array of social media tools is necessary.
