Theatrical Lighting Technician Internship

Orlando Repertory Theatre (The REP) is seeking eager and enthusiastic individuals for a Lighting Technician Internship with our Professional Internship Program. An internship at The REP provides an opportunity to work and learn in a professional environment. Our interns are an extremely important asset in maintaining The REPs presence as a leader in the industry. The REP staff strives to create a comfortable atmosphere for growing and learning while you hone your professional skills and build your portfolio under our wing. Interns at The REP not only get a one-of-a-kind experience from a professional staff; they also have unique access to industry professionals from Disney, Universal, and other leading organizations through networking and career counseling workshops. Interns also benefit from complimentary tickets to REP productions during their stay. Housing is not provided at this time. The Lighting Technician Internship provides practical application and professional experience to anyone building his or her portfolio. Working side-by-side with the Lighting Department Staff, the intern will have the unique opportunity to serve as Assistant Master Electrician on a number of The REPs main stage productions. From hanging, circuiting and focus calls to special effects and production paperwork, the intern will gain hands-on experience in all aspects of theatrical lighting, including joining the electrics run crew for certain productions. This internship is based on a 40 hour work week and is paid a weekly stipend ($165/week). Applicants should have basic knowledge of theatrical lighting and electrics and are comfortable with heights. This internship is recommended to last season-long running from mid-August through May but is also available on a semester basis with fall internship dates running mid-August through December and spring internship dates running January through May. Costuming Internship

An internship at The REP provides an opportunity to work and learn in a professional environment. Our interns are an extremely important asset in maintaining The REPs presence as a leader in the industry. The REP staff strives to create a comfortable atmosphere for growing and learning while you hone your professional skills and build your portfolio under our wing. Interns at The REP not only get a one-of-a-kind experience from a professional staff; they also have unique access to industry professionals from Disney, Universal, and other leading organizations through networking and career counseling workshops. Interns also benefit from complimentary tickets to REP productions during their stay. Housing is not provided at this time. The Costuming Internship is a construction based and project oriented experience that is essential to anyone building his or her portfolio or gaining real-world experience in a costume shop. Interns work side-by-side with the Costume Shop Staff and Show Designers to construct each production. They are involved in all parts of the build process from deciphering designers renderings to building, pulling, and altering garments. Applicants should have basic sewing skills and the ability to read and follow a pattern. Advanced sewing skills, such as pattern drafting and draping are a plus but are not required. This internship is based on a 40 hour work week and is paid a weekly stipend. Fall internship dates are mid-August through December. Scenic Internship (Theatrical Carpentry)

An internship at The REP provides an opportunity to work and learn in a professional environment. Our interns are an extremely important asset in maintaining The REPs presence as a leader in the industry. The REP staff strives to create a comfortable atmosphere for growing and learning while you hone your professional skills and build your portfolio under our wing. Interns at The REP not only get a one-of-a-kind experience from a professional staff; they also have unique access to industry professionals from Disney, Universal, and other leading organizations through networking and career counseling workshops. The Scenic Internship provides a professional experience working in a theatrical scene shop. Each intern has the opportunity to experience and learn industry trades in the shop ranging from the more common woodworking techniques to more complicated metalworking and welding practices. Working closely with the Scene Shop Staff, interns also gain other experience throughout the build process including loading-in, striking scenery, and basic rigging techniques. Applicants should have experience in theatrical carpentry, reading technical drawings, and should be comfortable working with power tools. This internship is based on a 40 hour work week and is paid a weekly stipend. Fall internship dates are mid-August through December. Development Internship (Arts/Non-Profit)

Orlando Repertory Theatre (The REP) is seeking eager and enthusiastic individuals for a Development Internship with our Professional Internship Program. An internship at The REP provides an opportunity to work and learn in a professional environment. Our interns are an extremely important asset in maintaining The REPs presence as a leader in the industry. The REP staff strives to create a comfortable atmosphere for growing and learning while you hone your professional skills and build your portfolio under our wing. Interns at The REP not only get a one-of-a-kind experience from a professional staff; they also have unique access to industry professionals from Disney, Universal, and other leading organizations through networking and career counseling workshops. Interns also benefit from complimentary tickets to REP productions during their stay. Housing is not provided at this time. The fall Development Intern will gain valuable, real-world experience while working in a Development Department for a non-profit organization. Interns are essential in providing support to an annual mailed appeal (strategy, mailing, execution, gift record-keeping), grant and sponsorship management, post-sponsorship reporting packages, special fundraising events, and in the development of individual giving strategies (giving levels, marketing collateral). The Development Intern will also assist in the planning of a holiday-themed fundraising event to take place in early December (the intern can also opt to extend the internship to participate in the execution of the event). Applicants should be highly organized, proficient in the Microsoft Office, have strong business writing skills, and be comfortable with mail merge functionality. This internship is based on a 5-12 hour workweek and is unpaid. Fall internship dates are from the end of August through the end of November.
