School Programs InternLearning Labs and Workshops School Programs Interns assist museum staff with the set up and delivery of our hands-on, minds-on school programsLearning Labs and Workshops. Learning Labs extend the IMAX documentary film experience for students in grades 4-8 with 45 minutes of interactive, experiential learning activities. Workshops extend the museum gallery experience for students in grades 4-5 with a 45-minute dynamic, interactive educational workshop. The intern will develop and use skills in guest relations, public speaking, instructional delivery, classroom management, and curriculum development and implementation.

Bellevue Arts Museum is the Pacific Northwests center for the exploration of art, craft and design through exhibitions, educational programs and partnerships, emphasizing the work of regional artists. The Bellevue Arts Museum ARTSfair is the largest fundraiser for Bellevue Arts Museum. The ARTSfair is scheduled for July 26-28, 2013. Over 300 national leading artists are juried into the ARTSfair by top art professionals. In 2012, over 320,000 people visited this community event to view the art and dance to the music! The Hospitality Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Artist Lounge. The Artist Lounge is a complimentary service to participating artists. The lounge is an area where artists can relax and enjoy food and beverages. The Hospitality Coordinator is responsible for coordinating food and beverage, hospitality donations and keeping the lounge clean. In addition, the Hospitality Coordinator is responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere and will need to come up with a plan of activities such as massage therapist schedule, artist information board, games, etc. The coordinator must be comfortable directing multiple volunteers throughout the 3-day weekend. The Milwaukee Art Museum seeks an enthusiastic, motivated college student to work closely with the Educator for School & Teacher Programs. This intern will assist with school tours, city and state wide conferences, school programs and teacher programs during the summer semester, with the possibility of continuing in the fall. Primary projects include assisting with the coordination of the Junior Docent School Program, a multi-visit program for elementary aged students, preparing resource packets for school tours, preparing and distribution of Museum materials, assisting with professional development implementation for teachers and docents and data entry as needed. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in the museum and/or the arts education field to obtain hands-on experience with students and educators. This internship is unpaid; however, the Educator for School & Teacher Programs will work with you and your college to provide credit if permitted.

The Virginia Museum of Transportation is looking for a cataloging intern. The museum has never digitized their collections, and they haven't had the personnel to catalog, accession, etc. for many years before this past August. This is an unpaid internship, but the "from the ground up" experience will be valuable, and there is the possibility of other cross training in the museum. We all chip in where needed around here, so you could get a pretty well rounded museum experience. The ideal candidate would be studying towards or have completed course work in museums or historic preservation.

Fine-tune research skills and gain experience in a museum setting with this internship offered through the Museums of Los Gatos. Interns report directly to the History Curator and will be given opportunities for leadership and independent projects. The History Museum of Los Gatos needs curatorial interns to assist in exhibit research, development and installation. Classroom credit available for qualified candidates. Some work from home is possible. ******** Potential Internship Projects Curatorial Research Researching and writing artifact labels and text panels. Exhibit Planning Assist in the installation and de-installation of permanent and temporary exhibits Collections Review Assist in the provenance research of objects that are candidates for de-accession. The internship may be one project or a combination of projects. Curatorial Interns may also be expected to occasionally write for, update, and contribute to the Museums social media sites. Please Touch Museum®, the Childrens Museum of Philadelphia, is seeking an undergraduate or graduate level student who is eager to gain hands-on industry experience. A flexible schedule is available; however, candidates must be able to work 15-20 hours/week. This internship is unpaid, but college credit may be granted. Internship would begin June 2013 until August 2013. Position reports to the Director of Media Relations & the Communications Coordinator and works closely with the entire External Relations Department. Candidates will work closely with a variety of different departments within the museum while emphasizing on work pertaining to the HR department, as well for the Vice President and CEO of the museum. Primary responsibility is assisting the Collections Staff with collections management tasks in the permanent and hands-on collections. This includes assisting with cataloging and data entry, object photography, inventory, and storage organization. Interns will be exposed to most aspects of Collections department operations while at the same time attempting to tailor the internship to that individual's interests and goals. Applicants should have strong attention to detail, excellent written and oral communication skills, and a positive personality.
