OUR MISSION The GWAYO, Inc. is committed to empowering young people from lower income families with the opportunities, skills, and vision to achieve long-term dreams and goals. OUR HISTORY Seeing academically underperforming children from low-income households being left behind by northwest suburban public schools prompted Philip Herman in 1997 to establish a supplemental education program for low-income suburban youth of all races. The program, originally coordinated under the auspices of the Wheeling and River Trails Park Districts, provided academically struggling students with adequate time to study and a chance to participate in healthy group recreational activities. Herman's vision was for his after-school program to blossom into a larger scale tutoring/mentoring initiative for middle- and high school students. That program became the Greater Wheeling Area Youth Outreach, Inc. (GWAYO), and was incorporated as a nonprofit corporation on August 16, 2001. We are currently looking for 3 Camp Counselors that will assist Camp Supervisors and other volunteers with the set up and running of the Summer Adventure Camp program. A stipend could be worked out once starting the internship.

ABOUT GUIDANCE GURUS: Guidance Gurus is an education-technology start-up that is creating a virtual platform to connect high school students, parents, and guidance counselors to colleges via live, virtual events. Designed to educate users on the college admissions and financial aid processes, the platform also resolves many of the logistical constraints associated with colleges traveling to high schools to recruit students. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Marketing and Social Media Intern will be responsible for managing Guidance Gurus social media initiatives, including developing a Guidance Gurus presence on some of the newest platforms. The goal of this position will be to increase Guidance Gurus online presence, generate awareness of the platform, create content that can be utilized across multiple social media platforms, and monitor marketing activities within the education space.

The purpose of the Outreach Coordinator is to ensure that New Futuro achieves its objectives by organizing and engaging with the Chicago Public School system on a grassroots level, promoting the tools and services that New Futuro offers to the students and parents. Reporting to the Partnerships Director, this position will be primarily responsible for ensuring the participation of assigned schools to the New Futuro online platform and New Futuro events. This position will foster meaningful and trusted relationships with the school staff and guidance counselors to disseminate New Futuro resources. It is critical that the Outreach Coordinator promotes long-term sustainable results for the schools and the organization.

The Milwaukee Art Museum seeks an enthusiastic, motivated college student to work closely with the Educator for School & Teacher Programs. This intern will assist with school tours, city and state wide conferences, school programs and teacher programs during the summer semester, with the possibility of continuing in the fall. Primary projects include assisting with the coordination of the Junior Docent School Program, a multi-visit program for elementary aged students, preparing resource packets for school tours, preparing and distribution of Museum materials, assisting with professional development implementation for teachers and docents and data entry as needed. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in the museum and/or the arts education field to obtain hands-on experience with students and educators.
