Internship with Ralph Nader's Library Renaissance Project

Library Renaissance ProjectWashington, DC
In 2002, Ralph Nader created the Library Renaissance Project to promote and protect the Washington, DC public library system. The Library Renaissance Project believes the discussion about the future of our King Memorial central library has so far been quite limited in potential scope, idea, outreach, and meaningful back and forth among DC residents. The possibilities for the future of DC's only local public memorial to the great Martin Luther King, Jr. ought to take place in public meetings, open to all, with meaningful follow-up on suggestions, ideas, and solutions offered by DC residents and local experts. We want to see a Citizens Taskforce formed to allow for a meaningful transparent dialog among DC residents who care about the future of the King Memorial Library. Internship Objectives: * Contact local community groups to gauge support of the Citizens Taskforce concept. * Archive and publicly present the level of support for a Citizens Taskforce in neighborhoods around the City for the media and City leaders. Skills: * Good communication skills: phone, email * Computer skills: internet research, MS Office THIS IS A VOLUNTEER-ONLY INTERNSHIP A letter of accreditation will be given at the end of the summer. Contact: * Chris Otten, 202-704-8391, dclibrarydynamo@rushpost.com ~ Note, this internship is not directly affiliated with the DC Public Library as a government agency.
