The Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) is a fast-growing association of patients, family members and medical professionals impacted by this often misdiagnosed and difficult illness. PHA is committed to maintaining the organization's volunteer spirit and to building opportunities for those affected by pulmonary hypertension to be involved in solutions to the challenges the illness creates. PHAs Medical Services Internship offers students an opportunity to assist the Associate Director, Medical Services and program associates in providing services to physicians, researchers, nurses and patients. This critical support will enable us to continue to provide vital services to the PH community. The Medical Services Intern will be instrumental in helping staff manage PHAs two medical membership networks and ensure that medical professionals who belong to these groups have access to the resources they need. This intern will have a wide range of experiences in managing the medical side of a health-related non-profit. You will be treated as a respected team member. Our office is a friendly and welcoming environment. Interns may also earn college credit. If you would like to design a project that helps you meet your educational goals, we will work with you to achieve this. Our office is located in downtown Silver Spring, Md., and is Metro accessible. The nations two leading food allergy organizations, The Food Allergy Initiative (FAI) and the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN), have united to advance a cure and promote education for food allergy, a severe and potentially life-threatening disease. The merger combines FAANs expertise as the most trusted source of information, programs, and resources related to food allergy and anaphylaxis with FAIs leadership as the worlds largest private source of funding for food allergy research. The new organization will be known as Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE). FAREs mission is to ensure the safety and inclusion of individuals with food allergies while relentlessly seeking a cure. The position supports the Managers community leadership to ensure the effective overall management of company initiated activities within the region. The incumbent will take a proactive approach to implementing strategies and organizing operations to maximize the fundraising potential of the region and must have the ability to establish a presence in the community and bring volunteers and community leaders together to achieve a common goal. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist with the management of the Walk for Food Allergy program in the Northeast Region. Assist with No Food, No Fear School Program. Assist with logistics and implementation for the 2013 Fall Gala including correspondence, phone calls, and solicitation. Engage volunteers in regional events.
