Political Research Associates is a social justice think tank dedicated to studying and challenging the U.S. Right. Our key issues areas span LGBTQ rights, reproductive justice, immigrant and racial justice, civil liberties, and economic justice. The Research and Editorial Intern will help in investigating a variety of right-wing movements and institutions, and producing The Public Eye magazine. Research responsibilities include: extensive web, library, or phone research; fact checking; meeting and coordinating with researchers and analysts; library work. The Public Eye responsibilities include: assisting with reporting and research; copy editing; proofing; selecting images; assisting with layout; writing assignments. PRAs research areas span gender, racial, immigrant, and economic justice; civil liberties; education; and other areas under attack by the Right. For summer 2012, we are looking for general interns interested in the right-wing and social justice as well as those with a focus on: LGBTQ Rights; Immigrant Rights; and Islamophobia and Anti-Semitism. Online magazine: PRA launched a new website in 2012, leading to new opportunities for web publishing, multimedia, and blogging. We are also looking for an intern with a journalistic focus interested in contributing to writing and editing as well as research specific to magazine articles, conducting and transcribing interviews, and suggesting new features. Qualifications: experience in journalism or research; excellent written communications, editing and proofreading skills; proficient in MS Word, Excel, and graphic related applications; detail-oriented; able to work on short and long-term projects; ability to work independently and as part of a team; interest in progressive activism.

The Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) is a fast-growing association of patients, family members and medical professionals impacted by this often misdiagnosed and difficult illness. PHA is committed to maintaining the organization's volunteer spirit and to building opportunities for those affected by pulmonary hypertension to be involved in solutions to the challenges the illness creates. PHAs Medical Services Internship offers students an opportunity to assist the Associate Director, Medical Services and program associates in providing services to physicians, researchers, nurses and patients. This critical support will enable us to continue to provide vital services to the PH community. The Medical Services Intern will be instrumental in helping staff manage PHAs two medical membership networks and ensure that medical professionals who belong to these groups have access to the resources they need. This intern will have a wide range of experiences in managing the medical side of a health-related non-profit. You will be treated as a respected team member. JOB TITLE: Market Research Intern REPORTS TO: National Marketing Director & Creative Director SUMMARY The Market Research Intern position is a seasonal role, based out of the Chicago office. The primary responsibility is to assist the National Marketing Director and the Creative Director prepare for upcoming marketing plans nationwide. As a member of the marketing team, the intern is expected to take a thoughtful approach to tasks, to analyze and think creatively about each market, and to voice their opinion about the information they gather. Tasks include, but are not limited to: * Conduct research on multiple universities and their student populations * Compile contacts within the university and community as assigned * Conduct social media research on school clubs and competitors * Consult and partake in the management of the overall social media strategy * Organize results of study survey focus groups * Research and communicate local trends, attitudes, style, and consumer habits * Provide insight on how students are using technology and social media * Conduct secret shop phone calls and emails of area competitors * Sourcing articles to support new marketing strategies and initiatives * Fact checking and data entry * General office management and organization * Tasks assigned by your supervisor The role will last approximately ten weeks, at 40 hours/per week or 400 hours total. The work is salaried, with students receiving $5,000 for the summer work (which works out to $10/hr). We can be flexible with summer vacations/etc, as long as the total of 400 hours is met. Pay is given every two weeks.
